Description

Sitting at the end of a beautiful, rarely visited beach that stretches for half a kilometre, the garden at Sri Villas seamlessly blends into the golden sand. Comprising three elegant two-storey villas sharing one main pool, each dwelling offers refined luxury and is popular with couples and small families wanting stylish accommodation with direct sea views on a safe swimming beach.

While the villas are equipped to cater to the expectations of modern living, much of the design is based on traditional Sri Lankan homes. High vaulted ceilings, tall louvered doors and windows shading large open spaces provide wonderful ventilation and allow the cooling ocean breeze to permeate the property.

Sagara Villa, which stands on the right of the property as you look out to sea, has three bedrooms (all master suites, kingsize beds, each with en suite bathrooms) private dining, living and kitchen areas. Two of the suites are on the second floor (with air-conditioning) and one on the ground floor, with natural breezes and a ceiling fan (plus its own outdoor shower). All the bedrooms have their own balcony or verandah providing breathtaking views of the Indian Ocean. In front of the villa is the garden which leads directly to the beach.

Nisala Villa is set in the middle overlooking the swimming pool. It has two wonderful master suites on the second floor each with kingsize beds and en suite bathrooms, a very large private dining and living area, an open plan modern kitchen with bar and a vaulted ceiling that reaches all the way to the roof. Each master suite is air-conditioned and has a large private balcony with beautiful views of the Indian Ocean.

Sitting on the left of the property as you look out to sea, Araliya Villa has four air-conditioned bedrooms: two master suites with en suite bathrooms on the second floor, and a junior suite with en suite bathroom and a twin bedroom on the ground floor. Like the other villas, Araliya has generous dining and living spaces plus a wonderful, part open-plan kitchen with a bar. There are two private balconies upstairs and a large verandah downstairs. The villa enjoys excellent views of the garden and ocean.

Each villa can be booked individually, however it is possible to book all three villas at Sri Villas for a group celebration such as family reunion, birthday or even a wedding. Sri Villas is fully organised to cater for parties with up to 100 guests. The entire property has accommodation facilities for up to 18 guests.

Sri Villas has its owned exceptionally well-trained, friendly English-speaking staff in residence (some with overseas work experience), so that guests may completely relax and feel at home. The philosophy is that guests are warmly and attentatively looked after, while not feeling any intrusion by the service. They also have a delightful resident chef and wonderful housekeeper/manager who will look after your every need during your stay at Sri Villas.

Dining is one of the highlights of any stay at Sri Villas. Our friendly and experienced chef will ask about your daily meal requirements. You may either pay for the ingredients, which will be purchased on your behalf at the local market, or choose the ‘full board’ option of a 3 set meals a day.

Enjoy wonderful traditional Sri Lankan curries, fresh seafood caught and prepared on the same day and a healthy variety of Asian and European dishes. On request, a table may be set up outside the villa living space and even on the beach for you to have an intimate, private dinner. The chef will also surprise you with afternoon cakes and tea!

One of the great pleasures, at any time of day or night, is plunging into the pool at Sri Villas. At 30 metres long, it's perfect for laps - as well as just hanging out and having fun. When the sea is too rough, it's also a haven for the children (the middle section is a shallow paddling pool ideal for the younger ones). The underwater lights stay on until the last guest disappears to bed.

Other facilities include an in-house masseur, private yoga sessions with prior notice, and cookery classes with the resident chef. There is also a laundry service and baby sitting which can be arranged with prior notice.

Sri Villas is the last word in elegant beachfront living.

When to travel

From May to August the Yala monsoon brings rain to the island’s southwestern half. The southwest has the highest rainfall – up to 4000mm a year. There is also an inter-monsoonal period in October and November when rain can occur in many parts of the island. Colombo and the low-lying coastal regions have an average temperature of 27°C. The sea stays at around 27°C all year. Climatically speaking, the driest (and best) seasons in Sri Lanka are from December to March for the west and south coasts.
