Delhi
There’s probably no city in the world that can compare to Delhi, a bustling hub that’s home to 13 million people. Throughout history it’s been a temptation to the Mongols, Turks, Persians, Afghans, Mughals and finally the British, and aspects of all these influences can still be detected in different parts of the city. From the planned colonial elegance of Lutyens’ New Delhi to the crowded medieval lanes of Mughal Old Delhi, the city’s diversity in many ways reflects that of the country. There’s plenty to see and do here, from exploring the historical monuments of the Red Fort and Jama Masjid, to visiting the high-tech malls and prosperous houses of Gurgaon.
