Best time to Visit

Good time to visit

Average time to visit

The best time to visit the central coast of Vietnam is between February and September with sunny and dry weather that is ideal for a relaxing beach holiday. October to December is the rainy season and we would not recommend travelling at that time and January can be slightly cooler in Hoi An.

A fantastic 10-day trip around Vietnam’s stunning central coast, with plenty of opportunities to explore the local culture. This holiday is perfect for couple but also works well for families with children over the age of 12. It is a great option for an Easter or summer beach holiday with a taste of Vietnamese culture.

  1. Days 1-3: Hue

Your adventure begins in Hue, the ancient imperial capital of Vietnam. Spend an exciting day with your guide exploring the crumbling ruins within the old walled city and learn about the Nguyen Lords who reigned from the 17th to 19th century. The ancient citadel, pagodas and tombs are a fantastic way to understand a small cross-section of Vietnam’s turbulent history. Hue is also famed for its cuisine, as is only fitting for royal palates. Make sure to save time to visit one of the many gorgeous restaurants in the town and sample some local delicacies.

Accommodation: Pilgrimage Village Boutique Resort & Spa (2 nights)

  2. Days 3-7: Hoi An

From Hue your next stop is Hoi An, a three-hour drive over the world-famous Hai Van pass, featured on many motoring shows and definitely a must-do travel experience. Wind through the mountains with the glittering South China sea on one side and steep cliffs on the other, stopping often to take photos and soak up the scenery of one of the most beautiful roads in the world. In the afternoon you arrive in Hoi An, the charming UNESCO world-heritage site and ancient merchant town with a rich history. There is so much to explore here with fabulous markets and amazing riverside restaurants galore. Your guide will be able to orientate you with a half day morning tour of the Old Town, home to beautiful merchant houses decorated with Chinese, Japanese and Vietnamese influences. You will also stop in at a morning market, ideal for finding a new favourite local snack, or buying fabric which you can have tailored into new garments at one of the famous tailor shops, which specialise in making their clothes in just a day or two. We have also included a day trip out to the My Son temples, one of the foremost Hindu temple sites in Southeast Asia, and a fun 10km (6 miles) cycling trip around Tra Nhieu, a sleepy craft village on a nearby island.

Accommodation: Anantara Hoi An Resort (4 nights)

  3. Days 7-11: Central Vietnam and Beaches

Your final stop is the highly exclusive resort area of Ninh Van Bay. A short flight takes you to Cam Ranh airport and you will drive through the town of Nha Trang to reach the pier. Here a short speedboat journey will take you to the bay, formed by a mountainous peninsula curving into the sea, totally inaccessible by road. The area has the feel of a private island, and you can only just see the lights of Nha Trang glinting on the horizon at night. Guests can choose from a selection of villas, designed in rustic style and facing out over the sparkling sea. For those wishing to keep active, the Mun islands are a short distance away, offering some of the best snorkelling and diving in Vietnam, otherwise activities within the resort include yoga, water sports and many other excursions. This is a truly fantastic place to end your holiday to Vietnam.

Accommodation: An Lam Retreats Ninh Van Bay (4 nights)
