Enjoy the best of New England from bustling Boston to the picturesque Rhode Island. Explore the beautiful countryside of Upstate New York before heading to the vibrant city of New York to end this adventure filled trip.

  1. Days 1-4: Boston

Starting in the historical city of Boston, you will spend three nights exploring the museums, galleries and pretty streets of this friendly city which is the gateway to New England.  Upon arrival in Boston, you’ll be met and whisked away to your hotel in the heart of the city, in walking distance to many of the city's iconic sights including Boston Public Gardens and Fenway Park. Spend the next two days exploring the city, learning about the key role it played in the American revolution on the self-guided freedom trail and seeing the sights. We’d recommend exploring North End, Boston’s Italian neighbourhood and venturing across the river to Cambridge. Tours can be arranged by University students of Harvard, for those wishing to delve deeper into the history of America’s oldest college.

Accommodation: Four Seasons Hotel Boston (3 nights)

  2. Days 4-8: Rhode Island

The next morning, collect your hire car from a convenient location downtown and enjoy a leisurely two-hour drive to Rhode Island. Factor in a stop at the harbour town of Newport on route, where culture vultures shouldn’t miss a guided tour of one or two of Newport’s famed mansions, summer homes to America’s first millionaires.  Stay at the Weekapaug for a quintessentially New England experience, where farm-table dining showcases the very best of local ingredients and seafood. Set on the shoreline of Quonochontaug Pond, with the Atlantic beyond, explore the nature reserve by kayak or boat from the property, whilst just a short drive or cycle away there are the stunning wide, white sandy beaches of Westerly to enjoy.

    Accommodation: Weekapaug Inn (4 nights)

  3. Days 8-11: New York

Next, it is a two-and-a-half-hour drive to Troutbeck, a revived historic manor house, located in 400-acres of bucolic countryside in Upstate New York. With interiors designed by Alexandra Champalimaud, a noted interior designer, the property has real style. The atmosphere is that of a country home, with attentive, friendly staff, and facilities include tennis courts, a large swimming pool, a library, and walled gardens to explore. Whilst it is an idyllic bolt hole especially for New Yorkers, it is also a fantastic base for exploring the countryside of the Hudson Valley and enjoying pursuits such as fishing, hiking, horse riding and kayaking.  For foodies, the valley is renowned for vineyards, orchards and farms, which stock the kitchens at Trout Beck (and the Pantry which is full of local goodies, and open 24-hours a day).

    Accommodation: Troutbeck (3 nights)

  4. Days 11-15: Upper Eastside (Manhattan)

Finally, it is a three-hour drive to New York City, or we can organise the train directly into Grand Central Station. Whether a first time or a frequent visitor, there is so much to discover in the city that never sleeps. We can recommend galleries and exhibitions near Museum Mile, the best boutiques on the Upper East Side and the most thrilling Broadway shows. We’d recommend crossing over the iconic Brooklyn Bridge to explore the neighbourhoods of Dumbo and Williamsburg. Whether self-guided or with one of our recommended guides, enjoy independent guides, quirky street art, bars, breweries and a good dose of history too.

    Accommodation: The Mark (4 nights)
