Best time to Visit
Good time to visit
Average time to visit
Summer or winter, rain or shine, there's always great stuff going on in New York, so when you're planning a trip, there's no real "best" or "worst" time to go. Snowfalls are not uncommon in winter but the festive atmosphere is fantastic and makes it perfect for doing your Christmas shopping. September to December is conference season in New York, and we would advise booking early for travel during this period.
In December, Miami is sunny and warm making this an ideal time to visit.
We design each itinerary around you, so this suggested itinerary is a starting point that we can tweak or transform into something completely bespoke to you. Call us on 020 3993 8245 to start planning your holiday.
Itinerary
An ideal December getaway; begin by hitting Madison Avenue in New York for a Christmas shopping before heading down to Miami to soak up some winter sun. Try ice skating in Central Park, catch a Broadway show and top it all off with some beach relaxation.
-
Days 1-4: Upper Eastside (Manhattan)
December in the Big Apple is a magical experience; see the city light up in Christmas lights, watch the snowfall from the Rockefeller Centre and experience the thrill of skating around Central Park. We have suggested a stay at the The Mark, a beautiful boutique hotel on the Upper East Side and an ideal base for a shopping spree as you won’t have to walk too far to carry your bags home.
Whilst in New York, you can explore the amazing department stores of Bloomingdales, Macy's, Saks, and Barneys, with their Christmas windows full of snowy scenes and beautifully decorated Christmas trees. Offering you almost anything you can imagine, department stores of New York are notorious for breaking the bank. Hit the upmarket boutiques on Madison and Fifth Avenue or head to Soho and Greenwich to cosy up with a hot chocolate post-shopping. You might also enjoy exploring the converted warehouses of the Meatpacking District and the quirky streets of Williamsburg in Brooklyn.
If venturing to New York in the lead up to Christmas, it is an absolute must to stop by the Rockefeller Centre to admire the 65 feet tall Christmas Tree, adorned with five miles of sparkling lights and brightly coloured baubles. As you will have seen countless times in Hollywood movies, a little ice-skating adventure at the nearby Rockefeller Ice Rink is the perfect way to top off a day of exploring the Big Apple.
Accommodation: The Mark (3 nights)
-
Days 4-8: Miami
Next, it’s time to fly down to the sunshine state of Florida to beat the winter chill. Sit back, relax and enjoy the white sands of South Beach with a cocktail in hand. The direct flight from New York takes only three hours, so you can finish off your last-minute shopping in the morning and be dining at a fabulous restaurant in Miami Beach as night falls.
Accommodation: 1 Hotel South Beach (4 nights)
