Autumn is Boston's most glorious season, though spring and summer are pleasant as well. These times bring in healthy-sized crowds due to favourable weather and special events. Weather usually remains warm throughout September, while cooler temperatures in October bring out the colourful foliage. Winter lasts too long for most people's tastes, stretching from December to April. During this period, visitors can expect temperatures below freezing and plenty of snow.

Centrally located on Copley Square in Boston's historic Back Bay, The Fairmont Copley Plaza is one of Boston’s luxury landmark hotels a gentle walk away from Boston Common, historic Beacon Hill, the Freedom Trail and the boutiques of Newbury Street.

Enjoying a fantastic location on Copley Square with the magnificent Boston Public Library on one end and Trinity Church on the other, the Fairmont Copley Plaza is one of Boston's best addresses. As you enter the hotel from the square you are struck its palatial opulence reminiscent of the classic European Palace hotels. There are fine Italian mosaic floors, chandeliers, hand-woven carpets, oodles of marble, gleaming mirrors and ballrooms. Not surprising then that it tends to the residence of choice for visiting Presidents and dignitaries and there's a definite buzz about this hotel.

A recent revamp has added some subtle contemporary touches to the hotel which blend well with the classic features - particularly in evidence in the atmospheric OAK Long Bar & Kitchen where private members club meets elegant French brasserie. Pull up a handsome leather stool for a cocktail at the copper topped bar, or enjoy bistro classics such as platters of local cheeses, melting pizzas, roasted Maine scallops, great burgers and lobster mac & cheese: comfort food at its best.

The 383 guest rooms and suites are elegantly decorated in blues, plums and greys. The rooms on the Fairmont Gold Floor include perks such as a dedicated check in area, complimentary daily breakfast in the cosy Gold Lounge, computer access, DVD library and a selection of hors d'oeuvres in the evening with an honesty bar.

Other facilities include a large, well-equipped health club and gym.

Location, location, location!  Right on Copley Square, the Fairmont is perfect for my first visit to Boston in 18 years.  Im right in the heart of the city, a stones through from the amazing looking shopping at the Prudential Centre and within glimpsing distance of the Boston public library.  Step out and Im only 5 minutes walk from the impressive array of boutique shops and restaurants on exclusive Newbury Street, and Boston Common is only 10 minutes further away.  The hotel itself is a little bit of a throwback to a bygone era.  Opulent and extravagantly looking on first impression, with copious amounts of marble and chandeliers in the entrance way, its a little disappointing when I reach the rather dark hallways upstairs.  My room is large with a view toward Copley Square and the bed is comfy, however, the dcor is a little dated, dark woods and a noisy fridge, which takes the edge off a little.  The bathroom is perfectly fine for one person, two would struggle though.  The shower is great but the bath is tiny so really not for soaking in. Not that I have time as I have such limited time to explore the city, my room is serving as simply somewhere to lay my head.  Thats where the Fairmont works. Its got a great location, spacious rooms (guaranteed connectors for families) and the price point is good.  For all these things, you can forgive the less than inspiring interiors and just enjoy the benefits instead.  It explains why its still a really popular choice.

As soon as you step into the Fairmont Copley Plaza you are overwhelmed by the opulent and intricate surroundings. With grand chandeliers, marble floorings and Tiffany blue on the ceilings there is a somewhat palace-like feel to it. This, coupled with the impeccable service you receive will make for a wonderful stay in Boston. The rooms are traditional with some contemporary touches and are very spacious for an inner-city hotel. Along with this, the hotel is in a great location! It is set just opposite Copley Square with both Newbury and Boylston Street nearby, making it a great spot for shopping and restaurant options.
