Best time to Visit

Good time to visit

Average time to visit

Zambia and Malawi have a moderate to sub-tropical climate with three distinct seasons. This itinerary is designed to fall within one of Zambia's most beautiful seasons - the lush, green and warm time at the end of the rains, before the bush starts to dry up. The weather will be warm and balmy with clear skies and sunshine, and cooler evenings and mornings. A perfect time for lovely game viewing and relaxing on the beach in the heat of the day.

Head to two of Zambia’s most loved National Parks to experience some excellent game viewing, incredible walking safaris and some top-notch camps in some beautiful areas of the South Luangwa and Lower Zambezi. Perfect for those seeking pure safari and adventure in a mixed style of camps and lodges for an unforgettable experience.

  1. Fly to Lusaka

  2. Days 1-4: South Luangwa National Park

Today your vacation begins as you land in Mfuwe International Airport and are met by a guide who will transfer you into South Luangwa National Park where you will spend the next three nights. This area of the South Luangwa is renowned for having some of the best game viewing opportunities in Zambia where your guide will take you out on game drives or walking safaris to explore the wildlife and landscapes of the area. Head out early in the morning to find game at a time when they are most active while your afternoons will be spent relaxing around camp until your late afternoon game activity.

Accommodation: Kakuli Bush Camp (3 nights)

  3. Days 4-7: Luangwa Valley

Your time in the South Luangwa National Park continues as you leave Kakuli Camp and are transferred back to Mfuwe Airport ready for your flight up to Lukuzi Airstrip for your stay at Mapazi Camp. Mapazi Camp solely offers walking safaris with experienced and popular guide, Deb Tittle. You will spend the next three nights in a remote area of the South Luangwa National Park in basic luxury tents as you explore this incredible area on foot. Deb has over twenty years of experience under her belt and tailors each walk around the interests and ability of the group. In out opinion, walking safaris are one of the best ways to explore the South Luangwa.

    Accommodation: Mapazi Camp (3 nights)

  4. Days 7-9: Lower Zambezi

After your jaunt into the South Luangwa bush you will head south to the Lower Zambezi National Park. You will be transferred in a light aircraft before being collected by a game vehicle to you next camp. Your next two nights will be spent exploring this beautiful part of Zambia. Lower Zambezi is a beautiful park – it’s marked by huge stands of Winterthorn (acacia) trees. Towards the end of the season these towering beauties are covered in bright orange curly pods which the elephants love. Most of the camps in the Lower Zambezi are located along the Zambezi River to offer spectacular views where many a relaxing afternoon can be spent. Your days here will be spent out on game drives where you could spot animals like elephant, lion, leopard, buffalo, waterbuck and some water-based animals like hippo and crocodiles.

    Accommodation: Old Mondoro (2 nights)

  5. Days 9-11: Lower Zambezi

For your last couple of nights, you will remain in the Lower Zambezi National park, but in a different camp. We think mixing camps in the same park allows you to appreciate the beauty and subtle differences of the game and landscapes of the park. Although you can still do walking safaris in the Lower Zambezi National Park, we recommend you make the most of the water and head out on river safaris, canoeing and even fishing along with your daily game drives. This is the perfect opportunity to experience life on the Zambezi which offers so much more than pure land-based activities.

    Accommodation: Chiawa Camp (2 nights)

  6. Fly home from Lusaka
