Jewels of Samarkand

Spend the day discovering the most important sights of the UNESCO listed city of Samarkand. Registan Square has been the official center of Samarkand since Tamerlane the Great’s time. The Square is surrounded by many great monuments, including the Bibi-Khanum Mosque which is named in honour of Timur’s eldest and favorite wife.

Immerse in the colorful farmers market at Siab Bazaar and stroll through Shah-i-Zinda, a visually sublime necropolis with ensembles of mausoleums which rank among the greatest masterpieces of Timurid art circa 11th-19th centuries. Another Islamic architectural masterpiece awaits you at Gur Emir Mausoleum, built in the southwestern Samarkand around 15th century as a resting place for the great Amir Timur and his descendants.
