Situated in downtown Talkeetna, the Talkeetna Cabins make for a cosy and comfortable base from which to enjoy the adventure capital of Alaska. The four individual cabins provide all the necessary amenities for you to enjoy an independent stay, including a fully-equipped kitchen, TV and WiFi. An additional three-bedroom log home is also available to accommodate larger families or small groups.
Talkeetna is the perfect spot to stop and break up the journey between Denali National Park and Anchorage and there is plenty here to keep visitors entertained for a two-night stay. Perched in between downtown Talkeetna and the Talkeetna river, the cabins are ideally located to experience the region's fantastic fly-fishing, as well as more extreme rafting adventures on the white water sections of the river. Hiking nearby is highly recommended and you can enjoy views of Mount Denali from many of the nearby trails. For true thrill-seekers we recommend trying out Talkeetna's ziplines, sweeping past the forest-lined water and descending over a series of suspension bridges, with rappelling thrown into the mix. Flight-seeing excursions are also an option and take you soaring over the impressive peak of Mount Denali, the highest peak in the whole of North America and a highlight of a trip to Alaska for many.
There are just 4 cabins and one larger log house at Talkeetna Cabins, each equipped with a dish TV, WiFi, a spacious bedroom, fully-equipped kitchen and private bathroom with shower. Two of the cabins have one queen bed and one twin bed whilst the other two have two queen beds and one twin bed.
The log-house has three bedrooms; one with queen bed and two with a queen and a twin. The living room also boasts a futon to accommodate additional guests.
Children are welcome at Talkeetna Cabins, however there are no specific facilities available.
Talkeetna is the adventure hub of Alaska and has plenty to offer to keep you occupied for a couple of days. The surroundings are perfect for hiking, river rafting, fishing and there is even an exhilarating zipline. Nearby Mount Denali (formerly McKinley) is the highest peak in North America and a flight-seeing excursion over the peak is a memorable experience.

Family run set of five cabins tucked away on a quiet street in Talkeetna, just a minute's walk from Main Street. I did not stay here during my visit to Talkeetna, but met with the owner and had a look into the cabins. Whilst more basic (typical of much of Alaska's offerings), I do think this would be a good alternative to a hotel, as they are right in the village, good quality and clean. Numbers 1&2 have a south-facing verandah. The bedrooms are in the loft and are sparsely furnished and rather plain, but the living accommodation looks comfortable. The proximity to village restaurants and bars probably renders the small kitchenettes redundant. If the option of traveling mostly by private charter light aircraft has been taken for a particular itinerary, it would be possible to take the scenic (but slow!) train from Anchorage to Talkeetna, but a cab from the station would still be required.
Devil's Canyon Jet Boat Tour
Board your jet boat ready for a high adventure 130-mile round trip river excursion through Denali State Park and into the Wild River Park of Devil's Gorge.
Talkeetna Ziplining & Canopy Adventure
Speed across a series of ziplines on this three-hour canopy adventure through the forested ridges that sit above the town of Talkeetna and the Susitna River, cross suspension bridges and rappel from the canopy for the most fun way to enjoy the views.
