The Colorado mountains have an extreme continental climate with very cold winters and warm summers. Dunton is a year round destination – with June to August being its peak summer months. Colorado averages over 300 days of sunshine a year. June is however the best month weather wise with no rain expected. From the first week of July to the first week in August guests can expect short-sharp afternoon monsoon showers so activities like horseback riding are arranged for the morning.
From September onwards through to the start of November the weather is usually sunny and dry. In November, rain and then snow flurries begin. Riding, biking and fishing give way to winter sports like heli skiing, snow shoeing, dog sledging and skiing in world-renowned Telluride.

Description
With the soaring peaks of the Rockies to one side and the pretty town of Telluride to the other, Dunton Town House is perfect as a base for Colorado mountain adventures. This beautiful B&B has just 5 rooms and acts as a wonderful home away from home.
Dunton Town House is a beguiling Bed & Breakfast in the tiny Colorado town of Telluride, just moments from the slopes of the Rocky Mountains. This lovingly restored Victorian building exudes charm and accommodates a maximum of ten guests, ensuring a friendly and intimate atmosphere.
Each of the five rooms has its own unique character, completed with cosy furnishings and custom made wooden furniture. Plush rugs, cushions and bedding add to the warm feeling and despite the property being small, all of the bedrooms are spacious. One bedroom has its own separate entrance for ultimate privacy while another has the option to be converted to twin beds to accommodate families.
A daily breakfast is served in the small dining area, created in partnership with a local bakery guaranteeing a fresh and delicious meal! Main Street is a short walk from Dunton Town House and so the many restaurants and bars of Telluride are within very easy reach. A few steps in the opposite direction will bring you to the gondola, which offers free access to the neighboring mountains in summer and access to the slopes in winter. Spend days trekking, cycling, fly-fishing nearby or even enjoying via ferrata adventures for an extra thrill!
Accommodation
Just five individual rooms accommodating a maximum of 10 guests. Each is beautifully decorated with custom wooden furnishings helping to create a homely atmosphere, along with cosy bedding, plush carpets or rugs and comfortable beds. All have a king bed but Gams can be converted into a twin bedroom.
| Auerhahn | Located on the ground floor of the town house, this is the only room with its very own fireplace. Along with a king bed, Auerhahn comes equipped with an ensuite bathroom with both a tub and a shower, as well as twin sinks. |
| Reh | Reh can be found on the ground floor and has large windows creating a spacious and airy feel. The room comes equipped with a king bed and an ensuite bathroom with both a tub and a shower. |
| Gams | Gams is located on the second floor of the town house and boasts views towards the mountains. The room can be furnished with either a king bed or two XL twin beds and comes complete with an ensuite bathroom which has both a tab and shower. |
| Hirsch | Situated on the second floor, Hirsch overlooks the stunning Ajax Peak and the Bridal Veil Falls. Complete with king bed and ensuite bathroom. Families can rent Hirsch and Gams together to create a two-bedroom option. |
| Mankei | Mankei is the largest of the five bedrooms and has its own standalone entrance to boot. Located on the second floor and boasting its own private deck, this is the perfect option for enjoying the surrounding mountain scenery. Room comes equipped with a king bed and separate bathroom with shower. |
Activities
Dunton Town House is a short walk away from the Telluride gondola which is free during the summer months making hiking easy. Enjoy the numerous dining options within the town, wandering towards Main Street which is within easy reach on foot. Enjoy fly-fishing adventures on the San Miguel River, take the cruiser bikes for a spin or get an adrenaline rush with a go on the via ferrata.
