Thailand is a great place for adventure with city, jungle and beach all at your fingertips. This itinerary takes you from culturally rich Bangkok to activity-based Elephant Hills in the south and then on to the sandy beaches of Koh Lanta. This trip is best suited to older families but can be adapted for guests aged 7 years or over.
Days 1-4: Bangkok
Your adventure will start as soon as you arrive in Bangkok, where you will spend three nights getting to know the city. The well-known attractions in Bangkok include the Grand Palace, Wat Pho and the floating markets, and our expert guide will be able to steer you through the crowds to fully experience the rich culture and history at these iconic locations. Take a half day tour of the Royal Family’s former residence and spot the famous 45m (147ft) reclining Buddha as your guide explains the important relationship Thai people have with their religion and their rulers. An early start is recommended to travel to Damnoen Saduak floating market, about 90 minutes from the city, fairly touristy but well worth a visit.
Accommodation: Peninsula Bangkok (3 nights)
Days 4-7: Khao Sok National Park, Thailand
Next stop is Elephant Hills in Khao Sok National park. A short flight takes you to Phuket, and then you will take a scenic three-hour drive into the park before stopping for three nights at Elephant Hills Camp. There are a range of packages on offer here, but we have selected for you the Jungle Lake Safari. You will spend two nights at the rainforest camp and one at the lake, staying in a simple but perfectly comfortable tent. During the day you can enjoy a canoe safari down the Sok river and though the lake channels, explore the lake, go wildlife spotting, trek through the rainforest, swim in the emerald waters, watch dance performances and cooking demonstrations and of course, walk with, feed and wash your elephants.
Accommodation: Elephant Hills Tented Camp (3 nights)
Days 7-13: Koh Lanta
For the final part of your trip, we suggest you head to Koh Lanta, although there are many other options available on the west coast. The Pimalai on Koh Lanta enjoys a wonderful hilltop position with fabulous views of the bay. The resort has luxurious rooms, facilities and a flawless service to match. After a busy few days at Elephant Hills you are probably ready for some relaxation which is what you can do here! We recommend opting for a pool villa for the ultimate experience. However, if you are still after some activity, there is plenty to be found. The kids can be kept busy with taking a kayak out to explore the island from the sea, trying their hand at windsurfing or exploring the underwater life with some fabulous snorkeling and diving opportunities. Back on land you can relax at the spa, take a cooking class, borrow bikes and head inland or of course, just lie on the sandy beach with a good book and a drink in hand!
Accommodation: Pimalai Resort & Spa (6 nights)
