Days 1-3: Bangkok
Your adventure begins in Bangkok where the cutting-edge sky scrapers contrast with the ancient temples and traditional floating markets. Spend a morning with your local guide at the famous Grand Palace, taking in its beauty and catching a glimpse of the Emerald Buddha. You will also get to see Wat Pho, home to the iconic 45m (147ft) reclining Buddha. Both of these locations are hugely important to the local people, and your guide will be able to explain the close relationship Thai people have with their rulers and their religion. While in Bangkok, you could also enjoy exploring the ‘klongs’, the tangled maze of canals that wind through the city and are home to fascinating local life and floating markets.
Accommodation: COMO Metropolitan Bangkok (2 nights)
Days 3-6: Chiang Mai
After two nights in the bustling metropolis that is Bangkok, fly north for a completely different city scene in Chiang Mai. Surrounded by mountains and lush countryside, it is much greener and quieter than Bangkok, leading to its nickname “Rose of the North”. There are hundreds upon hundreds of temples up here to be explored showing a mixture of Lanna Thai, Burmese, Sri Lankan and Mon architectural styles that reflect the varied heritage of Northern Thailand. The ones not to miss are Wat Chedi Luang, Wat Chiang Man and Wat Phra That Doi Suthep and your expert guide will be able to tell you the history behind each one. We also suggest you take an exciting day trip to hike in the Doi Inthanon National Park, home to local hilltribes and a dazzling array of native flora and fauna.
Accommodation: Anantara Chiang Mai Resort (3 nights)
Days 6-11: Phuket
A short flight from Chiang Mai takes you to Phuket, where the sandy shores and lively towns will be a welcome stop for your final five nights. Why not explore the Phuket Old Town, or take a cooking class at your hotel? Kayaking, snorkeling, diving, cycling are all fun ways to pass the time, or for those seeking ultimate relaxation you could merely indulge in a spoiling spa treatment before a delicious supper on the beach.
Accommodation: SALA Phuket Mai Khao Beach Resort (5 nights)
