Description
Mnemba Island is a tiny atoll off the east coast of Zanzibar which offers the ultimate in barefoot luxury. Its rustic exclusivity is unparalleled on the East African coast, it has just 12 secluded bandas hidden in the shady palms beside pristine beach.
Mnemba Island forms part of an exquisite atoll, which has been declared a marine conservation area. Mnemba Island Lodge is on a private island off the coast of Zanzibar. Twelve bandas, with spacious outdoor verandas, are tucked away in a very private and secluded stretch of shade within the tropical beach. Pristine sandy white beaches fringe this exclusively romantic piece of heaven, forming a halo around Mnemba Island. These rustic and simple, yet luxurious bandas ensure absolute privacy.
The bandas are hand woven from traditional Zanzibari palm fronds, all with their own private verandah which is perfect for escaping the midday heat and enjoying an afternoon siesta. The emphasis is on total relaxation in natural surroundings, with the fully stocked bar on the beach and alfresco dining adding to the laid-back atmosphere.

Reviews

I dont think I have ever seen I have ever seen a photo of Mnemba which does the place justice. The rooms are simple banda cottages hidden away in the trees for maximum privacy. The bandas are so well appointed, the sitting area has huge comfy chairs perfect to curl up in an read a good book or we had epic battles over games of backgammon, cards and chess, which are all provided in the cottage.
The service through out our stay was relaxed but impeccable and we had a wonderful butler looked after us at all ours meals, as we struggled our way through delicious lobster and king prawns.
We spend the days diving on the Mnemba Atol, which surrounds the island, or wallowing is the warm, clear and turquoise waters. Mnemba is really heaven on earth and the ultimate place for all wanabe Robinson Crusoes out there who like their creature comforts.
