Poppy Goodbrand
Our yoga loving Mediterranean fanatic Poppy spent her childhood in the Dordogne and enjoyed three blissful years in her twenties living the Dolce Vita lifestyle in southern Italy. The experience of going local and sampling some of the best food in the world has been a great source of inspiration for her guests’ adventures and not a year goes by without a visit to her ultimate favorite restaurant in Sicily, Da Vittorio, perched on the sandy beach by Porto Palo di Menfi, to sample Vittorio’s Linguine al Nero di Seppia and fresh catch of the day.
With her passion for music, art and history, when Poppy isn’t making recommendations for the best holistic retreats, she can be found researching the French occupation for her book and seeking out hidden gems in Roman antique markets.
Sustainable travel is a topic close to Poppy’s heart and one of her most memorable adventures of 2020 was as a guest at Singita’s sustainable lodges and luxury tented camps on the plains of the Serengeti. The high-end ecotourism brand that originated in South Africa has been preserving African wildness for over twenty-five years and is leading the way in conservation with the introduction of new innovative technologies to support anti-poaching as well as investing in reforestation as well as local communities. The exceptional care taken of each guest, the expansive space and beauty of their reserves and the extraordinary game viewing place Singita top of Poppy’s list for an East-African safari.
Poppy is eager to put her black book of contacts to good use in planning some of her most adventurous guests’ travels as well as those looking for something more indulgent, such as a gourmet wine tour of the Rhone Valley or a romantic weekend discovering the most romantic spots around Tuscany.
