The Experience
The result was a completely off the scale polar experience showcasing and embracing their passion for the great outdoors, world-class food and sense of adventure. A once in a lifetime experience for this once in a lifetime event.
Their trip began in the outdoor enthusiasts’ paradise of the Atacama Desert in the North of Chile. Hannah knew the lunar landscapes, dramatic scenery, stunning hikes, salt flats, hot springs and private lagoons would make for an exceptional start to their adventure. After a spectacular evening stargazing with the best guide and astronomy expert in the Atacama, it was time to explore the Seventh Continent. Flying from Chile and onto King George Island, the couple embarked on their private superyacht complete with helicopters and a submarine on board, bound for the white desert. Tapping into her little black book, Hannah enlisted a private film crew to accompany the couple, to capture and document every precious moment of this unforgettable journey, enabling them to replay the memories again and again. Not forgetting that food was an integral part of the experience, Hannah secured a private chef to cook up some memorable meals on board.
On the morning of their 10-year anniversary, they took off from the on-deck helipad for an exhilarating helicopter ride right into the heart of the pristine snowy landscape with towering glaciers and a thousand shades of blue. Hannah’s surprise continued to unfold with one of the most captivating wildlife experiences on earth - a trip to an Emperor penguin colony. Landing just south of Snow Hill Island, they took a breath-taking walk to witness 4000 breeding pairs, standing 45 inches tall, tuxedo-smart with their eye-catching bright feathers around their necks and heads. There was not a soul in sight, other than these captivating creatures. After their exclusive ‘penguin party’, Hannah had arranged for the pilot to land on a stunning tubular iceberg for sundowners, with an unexpected guest making an appearance - a Weddell seal. It was at this point, surrounded by glistening icebergs and in complete silence, that he went down on one knee. This perfect moment was suspended in time by a celebratory pop of a champagne bottle which echoed right across the ice kingdom. It was 2001 vintage Laurent Perrier, marking the year they had met; with Hannah nailing every last detail. Glasses were raised and a toast made to 10 years, the most epic day and an extraordinary proposal. Thousands of miles away from everyone and in this remote corner of the world, the day had far exceeded even his wildest dreams.
