Best time to Visit
Good time to visit
Average time to visit
Nepal has a Monsoonal climate with four main seasons. Fall and spring are the two most favourable seasons for visiting Nepal. Fall (September to early December) brings in clear weather with sunny days and warm nights. Spring (March to May) with occasional rain falls. From June to September, is the monsoon season. Uncomfortable time to visit as the climate of Nepal at this time of year brings about hot weather and rain falls almost every day.

Description
The Famous Farm is located just above Nuwakot, and is accessed by car from Kathmandu. An off the beaten track gem, The Famous Farm provides the chance to get away from the tourist trails and witness Nepal's rural authenticity in all its charm.
The Famous Farm has been lovingly restored retaining its traditional Newari design, yet offering the best possible creature comforts given its rural location. Don't expect all the bells and whistles; the houses have exceptionally low doorways and the electricity supply can be erratic, but this is what makes it so special.
There are 13 bedrooms at Famous Farm located in three buildings set around an open courtyard. All are en-suite except two which have dedicated facilities across a landing. No two rooms are the same, which gives many options for families and couples alike.
Your stay at The Famous Farm includes all meals and specific dietary requests can be requested at the time of booking. They normally service a Nepali dish each evening, but alternate with some western dishes to avoid repetition.
Throughout most of the year all meals are served in the courtyard. When this is not the case during monsoon and on colder winter nights, then the dining room provides a cosy atmosphere.
When you fancy a cool beer or a good glass (or bottle!) of wine, The Bar @ The Farm is there for you with a fair selection.
The Famous Farm itself consists of eight quite sizable levels of steep terracing which are given over to vegetables and fruits.
There are a multitude of day walks you can do around The Famous Farm, and taking the short walk to the local village to see Nuwakot Durbar is worthwhile however it is sadly still awaiting restaration after the earthquake. The village however is very uncomercial and charming and well worth visiting as it is not on many tourist-radars! Nuwakot is accessed by car most often from Kathmandu. The roads are in need of some work so currently the drive is bumpy and taking longer. We therefore recommend a 4 x 4 for this journey.
Accommodation
All 13 rooms are different, and are chosen depending on if you are a family or couple. The third smaller guesthouse has two rooms that would work well for families.
Facilities
The Famous Farm has a small dining room and a bar.

A charming off the beaten track Newari House with 13 rooms split across three buildings, each are lovingly restored with beautiful features including shutters. However the doorframes are low and the bed frames only just long enough! The rooms are comfortable with ensuite bathrooms, and the balconies offer spectacular views. The surrounding area of Nuwarkot is virtually untouched by tourism and so interacting with locals whilst on treks is a genuine and heartfelt experience. The food is simple but good Nepali thali, dhal bhat curry.
