Day 1 - Loreto & San Javier - Whales of Baja Expedition
Fifty-five years from conception to completion, the Mission of San Javier is breath-taking in its remote location surrounded by olive groves, vineyards and fruit trees planted by Jesuit missionaries. Today a small community live and work here and it makes for a fascinating visit. Hear all about its history and simply stroll around to soak in its magical atmosphere. The Mission is accessed by canyon roads with giant cardon cacti and dramatic gorges and feels like one of the most peaceful places on earth.
This evening will be an introduction to Baja's culinary riches, from the freshest catch to delicious Mexican tacos. One of the joys of Baja is the freshest seafood from the Sea of Cortez, indulging giant scallops and clams to delicious fish and lobster tacos. Whatever your tastes, your guide knows the best dining spots in Loreto and will introduce you to this charming historical town.
