The climate in Central India is tropical. Summers are hot and humid with a maximum of 40°C and minimum temperature of 23°C. Winters are pleasant with an average maximum and minimum temperature of 23°C and 11°C, respectively. National Parks are closed during the monsoon season. The annual rainfall is approximately 152 cm. The best time to travel is from October to March when game viewing is at its best.
The best time to go to The Maldives is between December and April, though as a tropical destination it can rain at any time of year and as such you should not necessarily avoid off season.
This classic itinerary provides an exhilarating week on safari in the Indian wilderness coupled with the total relaxation of the Maldives. The trip provides the perfect balance between adventure and blissful relaxation.
The first night of your trip will be a say in Delhi, to break up your connection to Bandhavgarh National Park. Delhi is a buzzing, vibrant city and if you are up to it, we suggest including a street food tour to Old Delhi’s famous market, Chawri Bazaar where you can sample local treats such as parathana (Indian flatbread) samosas, and sweet jalebis.
From Delhi you will take the short flight to Khajuraho from where you will drive south to access the largely untouched Bandhavgarh National Park in central Madhya Pradesh where you will spend your next three nights. Renowned as a tiger reserve, the landscape of which features tropical forests and woodland as well as steep rocky hills. These rocky outcrops make views in the park stunning. At the top of one peak there is an amazingly remote temple that it is possible to visit and look down onto the vast wilderness below.
The park is home to a large variety of mammals and supports one of the highest densities of tiger on the subcontinent therefore offering a good chance to spot a tiger in the wild. You’ll have twice daily jungle drives accompanied by expert naturalists who will make sure that you get the very best from your experience here.
After staying in Bandhavgarh you will then drive south to Kanha, another one of India’s spectacular national parks. Kanha is one of the largest parks in India and contains a mixture of meadows, grassy highlands and bamboo jungle. It has a large population of tigers and leopards as well as swamp deer. Sightings may be slightly harder to come by in comparison to Bandhavgarh however here you potentially have the opportunity for a fuller more immersive safari experience
To round your time in India you will spend your last night in Bangalore which you will reach with a direct flight from Kanha. As a cosmopolitan city, there is fantastic dining scene here and we can of course recommend a range of brilliant restaurants for you to try.
Finally to finish your vacation you will have a direct flight from Bangalore to Male to access one of the Maldivian romantic atolls. The Maldives are characterized by palm-fringed islands, stunning white beaches and crystal clear turquoise waters, as well as some of the most luxurious hotels that we know.
Delhi has some of the most amazing restaurants. We always keep our ear to the ground about the latest places to dine, and speak to all our guests about dinner reservations before they travel.
Head to Old Delhi's most famous market, Chawri Bazaar, and discover the incredible sights and smells. Your foodie tour will take you around the narrow streets, where your guide will talk you through the variety of delicacies on offer.
Explore New Delhi, the area that Britain constructed between 1911 and 1931 as their new Imperial capital in India. Think of leafy, wide avenues, and white-washed bungalows. See the vast Rajpath, the Parliaments Buildings and Humayun's Tomb.
A train journey in India can be an exceptionally rewarding experience. You see the life and soul of India in its many stations, as well as fantastic views of India's countryside.
Take a full day exploring both Old and New Delhi taking a Rickshaw through Chandni Chowk and visiting the Jama Masjid Mosque, Rajpath & Humayun's Tomb.
