This itinerary is perfect for a first-time visitor to explore northern India with a two week trip. From Delhi and onto Jaipur, ending in the Blue City of Jodphur, this itinerary takes in the forts, temples and palaces of Rajasthan including a visit to the iconic Taj Mahal giving the perfect introduction to the region.
Your itinerary begins in Delhi, where you will fly into and have your first three nights. Pass your mornings visiting Humayun's Tomb, the Qutb Minar and wandering through the bustling markets of Chandni Chowk. Returning to your hotel in the afternoons, enjoy afternoon tea on the lawn before dinner in one of Delhi's exceptional restaurants. During your stay in Delhi we have also included a day trip to Agra to visit the famous Taj Mahal, the ultimate monument to undying love. The Shatabdi Express train from Delhi to Agra takes around two hours on one of the fastest trains in India.
From Delhi you will continue on to Jaipur reachable by a one-hour flight. Jaipur, otherwise known as the Pink City, is home to Amber Fort and is the capital of the state of Rajasthan. There is so much to see and do here and with your private guide you’ll enjoy visiting the Hawa Mahal Palace, City Palace and the Jal Mahal. Jaipur is also famous for its textiles and silver, so its the perfect place to do some shopping.
From Jaipur to Lakshman Sagar, you will drive around four hours into rural Rajasthan. Lakshman Sagar sits in Pali, south west of Jaipur, and is spread over thirty two acres. Rooted in authenticity, stay here two nights enjoy the slow pace of this incredible destination. You’ll be able to explore the local area and take part in rural activities and in the evenings enjoy some stargazing. On a clear night, this rural setting comes alight with the wonders of the night sky.
Finally, driving around three hours east to Jodphur, you’ll spend your final three nights of your itinerary in the Blue City. Jodphur is famous for the mighty Mehrangarh Fort as well as the Umaid Bhawan Palace, now a luxury Taj Hotel which is well worth a visit. Again, like your other stops we have included a private guide for you so that you can get the most out of your experience as they help you uncover the secrets of the city.
Amber Fort, the ancient Rajput capital is located on a hill 11km / 7 miles north of Jaipur. Amber was the capital of the Kachhwaha Rajputs from 1037 until the Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh founded Jaipur in 1727.
Take a walking tour through Jodhpur beginning at Mehrangarh Fort, built in 1459 by Rao Jodha after whom Jodhpur was founded. Continue to the Jaswant Thada, a marble cenotaph, before having a walk through Ghantaghar (Clock Area), Jodhpur's busiest market.
Your Simply Rajasthan itinerary begins at The Claridges, just 45-minutes away from Delhi's international airport. By train, head to Agra for a day tour of the iconic Taj Mahal. Next, drive from Delhi to Jaipur, heading to 47 Jobner Bagh in the heart of the city. Onto Lakshman Sagar by car, this beautiful boutique option is a four hour drive from Jaipur. Finally, drive three hours east to Ratan Villas in Jodphur where you will end your itinerary through Rajasthan.
