Nepal has a Monsoonal climate with four main seasons. Fall and spring are the two most favourable seasons for visiting Nepal. Fall (September to early December) brings in clear weather with sunny days and warm nights. Spring (March to May) with occasional rain falls. From June to September, is the monsoon season. Uncomfortable time to visit as the climate of Nepal at this time of year brings about hot weather and rain falls almost every day.
This itinerary provides an epic journey through Nepal allowing you to experience the best that the country has to offer. You will be staying in the top accommodation in Nepal and treated to breath-taking experiences with expert guides throughout.
You begin in Kathmandu, where you will spend three nights. We have included an expert guide for you, who will bring the city to life as you experience the old bazaars of Kathmandu alongside the architectural highlights including Swayambhunath and Pashupatinah Temple over the two full days that you have in the city. Of course, we can arrange a number of specialist private experiences so that you can really uncover the culture of Nepal, so please do speak to your consultant about how we can tailor your experience. Examples of experiences that we can arrange include meeting with an Everest mountaineer for tea, heading to Bodnath Stupa for a butter-lamp ceremony with a Buddhist Monk or venturing out on a night-time photography walk through side streets of Kathmandu. Everything we do is customized, so the itinerary is built around you on a private and bespoke basis.
From Kathmandu you will take the short flight to Pokhara where you will have two nights in this fascinating city. We have not included a guide for you here as we feel, on a vacation, it is nice to have a few days to explore a destination at your own leisure and you may just want to relax and unwind. However, we do suggest exploring the Phewa, Rupa and Begnas lakes and for that spectacular sunset and sunrise we suggest heading to Sarangkot viewpoint.
From Pokhara you will head into the Annapurna Range where you will spend three nights in the village of Majgaun at one of the lovely Ker & Downey Lodges. Here you will have a chance to explore this incredible region but, unlike most itineraries, you will have just one base from which to explore meaning that you won’t need to pack up and move each night but are still treated to the spectacular experience of trekking in this area of the world.
During your time here, your expert guide will tailor your trekking each day depending on preferences and interests. You will have the chance to trek to remote mountain villages and gain a true insight into local life. The Gorkha people came to Nepal from India and they trace their heritage to the Rajput clan, part of the warrior class, and are renowned for their military prowess, which is why many were recruited in the 19th and 20th centuries by the British Army. Their culture is fascinating and you will be able to have a true cultural exchange, welcomed by these hospitable people.
On departure from Gurung Lodge you will make you way back to Pokhara by foot and car transfer before taking a short flight back to Kathmandu. Here you will have two nights at the exclusive and pampered Dwarika’s Resort, located in Dhukikhel. This lifestyle retreat is the ideal spot to end your vacation in Nepal as you enjoy the stunning surrounding views and relax and unwind.
As you walk into Bhaktapur, you cannot but be overcome by a feeling of inner harmony. Such is the art and architecture and the special layout here.
Head into central Kathmandu for a walking tour around Kathmandu Durbar Sq with your private guide before heading to Swayambhu Stupa overlooking the valley. Finish at Kaiser Cafe for lunch.
Boudhanath Stupa & Pashupatinath, both close to each other to the east of Kathmandu. Boudhanath is the largest Buddhist Stupa in Kathmandu whilst Pashupatinath is one of the most sacred Hindu shrines in the world.
