Best time to Visit

Good time to visit

Average time to visit

The best time to visit Burma is during the dry season from November to April. At this time the warm and sunny days are ideal for sightseeing throughout the country. The temperatures start to rise in March and May to September is best avoided as this is the rainy season when sightseeing can become difficult. Similar for the West Coast of Thailand, the driest months to visit are December to March. November and April are also good months to visit and you may get some rain, although it is outside of the monsoon season. May to October is the monsoon with downpours occurring once or twice a day, rather than constant rain.

Itinerary

On this beautiful honeymoon, experience the gems of Myanmar as you explore the country’s rich culture, stunning scenery and fascinating historical sites. This exotic landscape has so much to offer with something new around each corner, making it a brilliant honeymoon destination. Alongside Myanmar you’ll uncover the mysterious of Northern Thailand before having some wonderful time on the beach to

  1. Days 1-3: Yangon

You will start your trip in Yangon, the capital city until 2005. Here there is a huge amount to see and discover and it is a great introduction to this fascinating country. The mix of old British colonial buildings, shimmering pagodas and modern high-rise buildings makes it a visual feast. The people are warm, welcoming and engaging, making it a very relaxed experience. Your private guide will help you explore all the highlights and we especially suggest including the Shweadagon Pagoda at sunset which is magical.

Accommodation: Savoy Hotel Yangon (2 nights)

  2. Days 3-6: Inle Lake

After two nights in Yangon, you’ll take a short flight to Inle Lake. Here you’ll say goodbye to the road and spend your time exploring the waters by boat. Weave in and out of the floating villages, pass farmers with their oxen cooling off in the river along the banks and visit traditional industries such as textile factories which use the same techniques they have done for hundreds of years. The lake is alive with life which makes it such an incredible and interesting place to visit. On your first afternoon on the lake we have included a cycling tour, where the end destination is the Red Mountain Winery where you can enjoy a tasting experience. We know your honeymoon is all about spending time together, and we have left one day in Inle Lake at your leisure to explore as you like, or just to relax at your hotel. However, of course if you would like each day filled we can of course recommend lots more exciting adventures for you on the Lake.

Accommodation: Villa Inle Resort & Spa (3 nights)

  3. Days 6-8: Bagan

From Inle Lake you will transfer back to Heho airport where you’ll take a direct flight to Bagan. Over your next two nights you’ll be amazed by the sheer beauty and size of the sprawling temple complex surrounding you. Everywhere you look, the landscape is scattered with ancient temples, pagodas and stupas, amounting to over two thousand sacred sites. For a truly romantic experience we have included a hot air balloon at sunrise and a cruise along the Irrawaddy to a sacred hilltop pagoda. The walk to the base to the pagoda is one to one and a half hours but well worth the journey as you’ll be rewarded with beautiful views of the river and the temples of Bagan in the distance.

    Accommodation: Areindmar Hotel (2 nights)

  4. Days 8-9: Mandalay

Next it is on to Mandalay and instead of flying, which most itineraries you’ll drive for along the way we have included a stop at the Burmese Star Tortoise Conservation Center at Minzontaung Wildlife Sanctuary. In the process of visiting the Sanctuary you’ll contribute towards keeping the tortoises safe from illegal poaching for food, medicine and pet markets as this species is classed as highly endangered. Once in Mandalay you’ll be able to explore its heritage sites including the last remaining building from the Royal Palace.

Accommodation: The Hotel by the Red Canal (1 night)

  5. Days 9-12: Chiang Mai

From Mandalay, you’ll be able to fly directly to Chiang Mai in Thailand. Known as the 'Rose of the North' this is a wonderful place to get better acquainted with Thai culture with a Thai cooking class, visits to the night markets and if you are feeling energetic you can also enjoy some trekking in the beautiful surrounding countryside.
