Average time to visit

The best times to visit Istanbul are in spring (April to May) and autumn (September to October), when skies are clear and temperatures are moderate. During July and August it is hot and steamy; a lot of Istanbullus head for the west and south coasts over these months and some businesses close. Biting winter winds and snow are common in winter.

Be aware that during the five-day Kurban Bayrami banks shut and ATMs can run out of money. During Ramadan business hours can be erratic. Hotel rooms skyrocket in price and are often overbooked during the Formula 1 Grand Prix in June.

Description

Ciragan Palace Kempinski is located on the shore of the Bosphorus, with lovely views and ample outdoor space. The Palace itself was once the residence of the city's rulers, and still houses the hotel's top suites and banqueting facilities.

A member of 'Leading Hotels of the World', Ciragan Palace Kempinski is one of the most important landmarks of Istanbul and is well known as one of the city's very best hotels. The rooms are mostly in a new building built next to the ancient palace: the majority have balconies offering stunning views of the Bosphorus.

The Palace itself was once the residence of the city's ruling Sultans during the Ottoman era. It is still possible to visit the historic hammam they built in white marble and to wonder at the enormous Murano glass chandeliers they imported at great expense from Venice. A stay at Ciragan Palace combines all the convenience and luxury of a stay in an up-to-the-minute 5 star with the privilege of staying in one of the city's most famous historic locations.
