Average time to visit
The Mediterranean climate makes Tuscany a year round destination. It is important to remember that the main tourism season stretches from mid-April to the end of September with July and August being peak months. The best time to visit Tuscany is in the quieter part of the season, from April to June and from September to October when weather is usually good, prices lower and there are "fewer" tourists. Many have also discovered the advantages of visiting during the "low season" (late autumn and early spring) as the reduced number of tourists is visible.

This stunning boutique hotel located in the heart of the Tuscan countryside exudes charm and history. The lovingly converted 13th century villa, the center of the property, offers guests a luxurious haven in which to relax and unwind.
Located in the heart of Tuscany, Borgo Santo Pietro is just 30-minutes from the center of Siena and just over a 1-hour drive from Florence. This stunning 13th century villa estate was painstakingly and lovingly restored into a beautiful and luxurious boutique hotel.
Surrounded by 13 acres of gardens this hotel really offers seclusion and relaxation in the most enchanting setting. The rooms are spread between the main Villa and a separate building housing the Garden Suites just a 2-minute walk away. The interiors are in-keeping with the origins of the building, walls are adorned by paintings and tapestries and beautiful antique pieces can be found in rooms and the public areas.
This hotel is a wonderful retreat open from March to the end of October, and with large open fireplaces the main villa is a cosy and romantic retreat when the weather is cooler. In the summer months, guests can cool off in the hotel's large infinity pools which overlook the surrounding countryside. Those looking for relaxation can indulge in treatments in the hotel's spa and those after more action can enjoy the hotel's facilities which include tennis and badminton court. Croquet, archery, yoga and bicycles are all available to guests.
Each of the rooms and suites at the Borgo Santo Pietro is independently decorated, using the finest linens and antique pieces, ensuring a unique experience for guests. Taking inspiration from the beautiful gardens and rural setting, many of the rooms feature hand-painted murals of the surrounding countryside.
The hotel offers two dining options. The more formal Michelin-starred Meo Modo restaurant offers gourmet dining with local home grown produce. More relaxed is the Treehouse Bar and Brasserie, situated near to the pool this offers lighter choices perfect for lunch or light snack with a cocktail. For those looking for a romantic evening, the hotel can also set up a private dining experience within the gardens.
On site the hotel offers a tennis and badminton court, and yoga, archery, cooking lessons and garden tours are all available on request. Those looking to indulge their creative side can organize flower arranging tutorials or have a private lesson with the resident artist for those looking to learn or improve painting skills.
Outside of the hotel there is a wealth of activities to enjoy from horse riding, biking, golf as well as historical sites and villages to explore.

I was really impressed by Borgo Santo Pietro: I thought it was a lovely property in a beautiful setting. The rooms are beautiful and the service top-notch.
The dcor was perfect I thought, in keeping with the rustic Tuscan style but not too traditional and old-fashioned looking. I would definitely recommend the new 'garden suites' - they are located just a few steps away from the main building and offer beautiful private gardens. Ideal for a laid-back alfresco breakfast, which the hotel is happy to bring to your garden at no additional charge should you prefer not to get dressed and amble over to the breakfast room in the main building.
Room amenities are beautifully presented and the bathrooms spacious and well-appointed.
All the staff I met at Borgo Santo Pietro, from the reception staff to the waiters and friendly sommelier, seemed very proud to be working at Borgo Pietro and offered exemplary service with a smile. The food was delicious and all, as you would expect, based on the freshest local produce whether you are dining at the fine dining restaurant or enjoying the more informal atmosphere of a laid back lunch by the pool.
With its extensive and beautifully maintained gardens and grounds, Borgo Santo Pietro is an idyllic country retreat.
