Sicily

Sicily is one of Italy’s most historically cosmopolitan regions. This enchanting island is full of art, history, breathtaking views and exquisite cuisine.

Palermo is the biggest city on the island, and as such the main tourist hotspot, with its rustic winding streets, sea-front restaurants, charming markets and distinctive architecture. The equally beautiful, if not more sedate, towns of Siracusa and Catania are also worth exploring, and the spectacular sight of Mount Etna is a must, too.

The State Department has changed their advice for travelers to Italy to Level 3 (re-consider travel). From 8 March, the Italian authorities extended the area of isolation to cover the whole of the Lombardy region and the provinces of Modena, Parma, Piacenza, Reggio Emilia and Rimini (all in Emilia Romagna); Pesaro e Urbino (in Marche); Venezia and Padova (in Veneto); Asti and Alessandria (in Piemonte). The State Department advice will be regularly reviewed and may be changed depending on how the fast-changing coronavirus situation evolves. Also see our travel information regarding Coronavirus.
