From May to August the Yala monsoon brings rain to the island’s south western half. The southwest has the highest rainfall – up to 4000mm a year. There is also an inter-monsoonal period in October and November when rain can occur in many parts of the island. Colombo and the low-lying coastal regions have an average temperature of 27°C. The sea stays at around 27°C all year. Climatically speaking, the driest (and best) seasons in Sri Lanka are from December to March for the west and south coasts.
Samudra House is a small and charming villa, just 10km from Galle. Located in Habaraduwa, famous for its mile long beach, this is just the spot for beach lovers. With a wide pool and two elegant bedrooms, enjoy the open plan design and well-kept lawn.
Samudra House sits on Koggala Beach in Habaraduwa with access straight onto this sand. This area is known for its flat wide beach, perfect for a morning stroll but the villa is also just 20-minutes by car from Galle Fort.
Upon entering the villa, head up the path and enter the open plan ktichen cum living room. The wide covered verandah sweeps along the entire property, where to the right you will find the two large bedrooms. The pool also stretches in front of the living area, complete with sun loungers for sunbathing.
Enjoy private dining around the large dining table, or ask for our recommendations and head to one of the nearby restaurants. For those wanting to make the most of the villa, your private chef can cook up some delicious local delicacies for you or anything else you fancy. Samudra House comes fully staffed with a chef and house staff including a laundry lady, allowing guests to totally switch off.
With just two bedrooms, this is perfect for a small family wishing to get away. Each double room comes with an ensuite bathroom and both are very charming in style. There is the also the option of a third bedroom upstairs with a single bed, but please be aware this is located at the back of the house and is much smaller in size.

Children are welcome at Samudra House and will love this home away from home. Babysitting can be arranged, but please note there are no specific facilities available for them.
Dining at Samudra House is very flexible depending on what you would like to do. Choose to eat out in Galle Fort or one of the nearby restaurants, or dine in and enjoy the comfort of your villa. Your chef will liaise with you and buy the ingredients for your meals based on your likes and dislikes. Choose to cook yourself, or let the chef cook up a mix of Western and Sri Lankan dishes.
