Rajasthan is known as the desert state. It is largely hot and dry throughout the year, making it a great destination to get away during cold winter months.
Summer in Rajasthan extends from April to June. It’s the hottest season so not ideal for travel, although early April is a good time to get great value for money if you don’t mind the heat. In western Rajasthan temperatures may soar, particularly in May and June, so we'd suggest avoiding Jaisalmer and the Thar Desert at this time.
The monsoon season usually runs from July to September. The temperature drops slightly, and humidity increases. During this period 90% of the rain Rajasthan occurs, although in reality Rajasthan never receives much rainfall. Lakes and rivers will be higher and there's more color to the landscape.
October to March is the best time to travel to Rajasthan. Expect warm and sunny weather, perfect for exploring and relaxing. Please note that hotels are at their busiest over the Christmas and New Year period. December and January can have very cool mornings and evening and we suggest taking some warm clothing. Whilst temperatures in the desert areas are always hot in the daytime, they become some of the coolest areas of the state once the sun goes down. It’s also normal to expect some fog in the major cities of northern Rajasthan in December and January.

Rawla Narlai is set at the heart of a typical Rajasthani village within the Aaravali Hills, bustling with activity and bursting with color. This 17th century heritage villa offers thirty two comfortable rooms, all styled in a unique and boutique feel.
Rawla Narlai is a fantastic little heritage hotel, located on the edge of a busy village. Set in the heart of the Aravalli Hills at the foot of a huge, granite rock the hotel is surrounded by forest and stunning countryside. In short, Rawla Narlai provides a great juxtaposition to busy city life.
With its close proximity to Ranakpur and Kumbhalgarh, Narlai is the perfect stopping point between Jodhpur and Udaipur. The building itself dates back to the 17th century and was once a favorite hunting lodge if the Jodhpur Royal Family who to this day still own it, and have spend considerable time in renovating the property to bring it up to its current standard.
The thirty two rooms at Rawla Narlai are dotted all around the property and each varies significantly in shape, size and décor. There are also some smart, luxury tents in the garden by the pool.
The property remains small and well run, and depending on your preference, works well as either a stop over between cities or a pleasant place to spend a few days and relax and unwind. If you're feeling energetic then we suggest a climb to the top of the huge rock dome next to Fort Rawla with its elephant monument at the top. After, why not enjoy a stepwell dinner by torch light - an impossibly romantic way to end the day.
Accommodation at Rawla Narlai comprises thirty two rooms and suites. Certain rooms have balconies and terraces and each suite is large and spacious. All rooms are air-conditioned and have overhead fans, and en-suite bathrooms. Please note, some of the rooms have bathtubs instead of showers.
Facilities at Rawla Narlai include: Swimming pool and a separate children’s pool, comfortable roof terrace for sunbathing and Wi-fi . There is also a yoga and massage center as well as a Jacuzzi to relax in.

Its very easy to overlook the rural areas of Rajasthan in favour of the high profile highlights in the cities, but a stay at Narlai is a great way to see the real countryside. I really enjoyed my stay here, and a cold drink on your room terrace at sundown is a great way to finish the day.
