Rajasthan is known as the desert state. It is largely hot and dry throughout the year, making it a great destination to get away during cold winter months.
Summer in Rajasthan extends from April to June. It’s the hottest season so not ideal for travel, although early April is a good time to get great value for money if you don’t mind the heat. In western Rajasthan temperatures may soar, particularly in May and June, so we'd suggest avoiding Jaisalmer and the Thar Desert at this time.
The monsoon season usually runs from July to September. The temperature drops slightly, and humidity increases. During this period 90% of the rain Rajasthan occurs, although in reality Rajasthan never receives much rainfall. Lakes and rivers will be higher and there's more color to the landscape.
October to March is the best time to travel to Rajasthan. Expect warm and sunny weather, perfect for exploring and relaxing. Please note that hotels are at their busiest over the Christmas and New Year period. December and January can have very cool mornings and evening and we suggest taking some warm clothing. Whilst temperatures in the desert areas are always hot in the daytime, they become some of the coolest areas of the state once the sun goes down. It’s also normal to expect some fog in the major cities of northern Rajasthan in December and January.
Bujera Fort is found on the outskirts of Udaipur, in the foothills of the ancient Aravalli Hills. A picture-perfect boutique hotel, enjoy the gardens and views of the lake and city in the distance whilst dining on delicious Rajasthani cuisine.
Lovingly constructed over many years from the local stone and designed as an authentic mini Rajasthani fort, Bujera Fort is located in the small village of Bujera, just 45-minutes from Udaipur Airport. This charming hotel features myriad hand carved columns with beautifully textured pastel colored walls, designed by the hotel's owner, interior designer Richard Hanlon.
Built in a square, the focal point at Bujera Fort is its beautiful courtyard, accessed through over-sized majestic hand-carved doors, where you'll find a inviting pool surrounded by stunningly sculpted gardens. Most windows and doors are salvaged from old villages throughout India, each one of them adding their own authentic magic and stunning appeal.
Long shaded colonnades lined with comfortable antique benches lead one to sensationally decorated bedrooms, featuring stylish fabrics imported from England, along with a wonderful mixture of colorful local Indian designs. The attention to detail is extraordinary and every inch of the accommodations and guest areas ooze romance, understated luxury and tranquillity.
The owners have strived to give Bujera Fort a private home stay appeal. With this in mind, they have certainly succeeded in creating a chic but cosy place to relax.
There are fourteen rooms at Bujera Fort, including five cloister bedrooms, two master suites and the Bujera Cottage which is made up of three double bedrooms with en suite bathrooms. There is also the Bujera Bungalow, comprising two doubles, one twin room and one single bedroom.
