The Anam is a relaxed beachfront resort overlooking one of central Vietnam's beautiful bays, with a horizon only interrupted by the occasional fishing boat or little island. Plenty of facilities and activities make this a great option for families.
The Anam consists of clusters of rooms and villas spread throughout the resort's tropical grounds. Although it is a modern resort, the design is very much in keeping with Vietnam's Colonial heritage, mixing dark wood, patterned floor tiles and a color scheme of white with rich blues and yellows. A number of the villas have private pools and many also have wonderful sea views or direct beach access.
There is plenty to keep everyone entertained, with a number of watersports, a tennis court, activities such as volleyball and yoga, and within easy reach of the resort there are also three golf courses. For younger children, there is a good kids club, which offers indoor and outdoor activities. Those wishing to spend their time on the resort's beautiful beach can do so at ease, with internationally certified lifeguards patrolling throughout the day. For those who simply want to relax by the pool, there are three to choose from, one of which is adult-only. For complete relaxation, there is also the resort's Balinese Sri Mara Spa.
The Indochine is The Anam's main restaurant, serving buffet breakfasts and dinners, and a la carte lunches. The dinner theme changes daily, ranging from seafood BBQs, to Asian to European cuisine. Those looking to get a real taste of Vietnam should make sure they go to Indochine on a Wednesday, when five mothers of the staff come in to cook their favorite local dishes for guests, known as the 'Mamma's Cooking Initiative'! In a separate part of the Indochine Restaurant, there is the Indochine Grill, which offers a fine dining atmosphere and European cuisine, with a focus on classical French dishes.
Other dining options include the Saigon Bar, which has a small a la carte menu, and also serves afternoon tea. The Beach Club is a good choice for those looking for something lighter, with both Asian and Western dishes, including salads, sandwiches and pizza. The Sports Bar serves refreshing drinks and snacks.
The Anam has 96 rooms and 117 villas. The design incorporates Colonial-style decor, with modern facilities, including air-conditioning, internet TVs and Wi-Fi. Many of the rooms and villas have sea views, and the Beachfront Villas are only meters from the sand. For that extra bit of privacy, some of the villas also have their own private pools. All rooms and villas have indulgently deep bathtubs.
Children are welcome at The Anam, and they are well catered for, with a good kids club and lots of activities.

This is a new property to the East coast of Vietnam and we were sadly unable to stay overnight. We did however have an extensive tour of the property and what I saw really impressed me. Scott Dunn guests would definitely want to opt for one of the resort's 117 villas rather than the main body of the hotel. The villas are laid out in the huge grounds of the property sloping away down the lawns to the sea. The facilities are endless and for families with young children there are more than enough things to do - even including a 3D cinema experience that can seat 60 people. For those without children there are adult only pools and fine dining experiences. there are also three golf courses nearby for keen golfers. In short, whatever you are looking for, this resort holds the key. Either include it in a wider itinerary or make it your primary destination. Whatever you decide you will not be disappointed.
