Aqua Nera operates year-round, and every voyage is uniquely appealing, based on the changing seasons. During the wetter season from December to May, the river and estuaries grow, allowing launch boats to venture deeper into the flooded forest. During the 'drier' season from June to November, the river recedes and beautiful sandy river beaches form. In a typical year, the Amazon experiences 200 rainy days, which means that there will be days of heavy rain even in the Amazon’s low water season.
Experience the Amazon Rainforest in Peru from the comfort of the luxurious Aqua Nera, the newest cruise vessel to operate in these waters. Keep your eyes peeled for wildlife as you explore the rich ecosystem of the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve.
Designed with comfort in mind, Aqua Nera offers a luxurious river cruising experience along the waters of the Ucayali and Marañón rivers which join to form the Amazon, keeping expedition at the forefront for the best possible experience. Itineraries offered are 3 nights, 4 nights or 7 nights and the route and activities vary slightly depending on the departure date. The guest to staff ratio is 1:1 ensuring fantastic service throughout, whether on board or out on excursions.
The vessel is equipped with enough skiffs to ensure all guests can explore at the same time and provide a little flexibility to each itinerary. During your cruise, enjoy hiking through the jungle, kayaking, swimming, fishing and skiff rides with naturalist guides as you go in search of the resident wildlife. This part of the Peruvian Amazon is home to an array of bird species, monkeys, sloths, caiman, snakes and a whole host of other wildlife.
Aqua Nera accommodates up to 40 guests in 20 spacious suites, each with floor-to-ceiling glass windows, ensuite bathrooms with spacious walk-in showers and dual sinks, air-conditioning and California King beds which can also be made into twin beds. The décor is stylish and reflects the black water lagoons which can be found throughout the rainforest, with dark woods and earthy tones used throughout. This same theme continues throughout the bar, dining room and other social areas.
There are 20 cabins on board the Aqua Nera, all designed to high specifications with luxurious furnishings, floor-to-ceiling windows, air-conditioning and ensuite bathrooms. There are 4 interconnecting cabins which are ideal for families, or couples who want a little extra space. One can be configured as a living room if you desire. All suites also come with hairdryers, electronic safes and music docking stations.
On board you can find plenty of social space, including an observation deck and both indoor and outdoor bar/lounge space, a library/games room and screening room for documentaries and lectures on the Amazon ecosystem. A river-facing plunge pool sits on the open air deck, the perfect spot for a refreshing dip after a jungle excursion. The restaurant serves delicious Amazonian cuisine by chef Pedro Miguel Schiaffino and there is also a small spa and gym, as well as a games room with a pool table.
Two to three excursions are included each day and are in small groups, focusing on getting to know the Amazon wildlife, culture and ecosystem. Activities include kayaking, swimming and fishing, as well as exploring the waterways on small skiffs in search of wildlife.
