Best time to Visit

Good time to visit

Average time to visit

Rio de Janeiro is a year round destination. Spring (September - October) is one of the nicest times to visit Rio, before the humidity sets in. Rio's forests and gardens are lush and beautiful to see at this time. Summer vacation begins in mid-December and lasts until February. During this time the beaches are packed with Cariocas working on their tans. This can also be the rainiest time of year in Rio. The heavy heat starts around October and will reach 40 degrees Celsius on a sunny day. Winter vacation happens in July and, although the days can stay hot, the evenings in Rio get relatively chilly dropping to 15 degrees Celsius. The winds and dampness can make this feel colder. Summers are best for diving while the winter months (June - August) are the best for surfers. Carnaval is held every year, 7 weeks before Easter Sunday. During this period, and often the weeks leading up to it, Rio is at its liveliest. It is also a time when prices skyrocket and crowds can become unbearable.

Sofitel Ipanema (formerly Caesar Park) has a great location right in front of Rio de Janeiro's Ipanema beach, the sophisticated rival to Copacabana. This is a perfect family option with spacious rooms, a central location and child-friendly menus.

Ideally located on Rio de Janeiro's Ipanema Beach, the stylish Sofitel Ipanema is a cool and contemporary hotel which lends itself well to both couples and families. Just around the corner from Copacabana Beach, Sofitel Ipanema boasts impressive views south to the two brother's mountain with a forested backdrop, along with stunning ocean views and of course the iconic city skyline of Rio de Janeiro. Views can be enjoyed from a number of the rooms, as well as the pool, gym and restaurants, and we would recommend taking a room on the upper floors for the most impressive.

There are 222 rooms and suites in total, all of which are elegant and spacious, providing a range of modern amenities and equipped with air-conditioning, large TV with access to international channels and complimentary WiFi. Windows are huge, ensuring the best views and plenty of light in every room.

Other facilities at the Sofitel Ipanema include a rooftop lounge and swimming pool, which is protected from the wind but still enjoys impressive views across Ipanema, a spa, fitness center, lobby bar and restaurant which serves up international, French-inspired cuisine.
