Offering warm temperatures throughout the year the Caribbean is a perfect year round destination. With an average of 9 hours sunshine a day the peak season runs from December through to April which is the dry season when you can expect very little rainfall. May to November are the slightly wetter months where you will find an increase in rainfall as the summer season goes on and with that some humidity, however the Summer months are still a great time to travel as the temperatures are hot and the rain tends to come in short heavy bursts but not all day long. The wettest months with the most humidity are September and October and these are the most probable months for hurricanes to occur in the region although many islands have not experienced hurricanes for a number of years. The average daily temperatures range from the mid-seventies in the winter months and mid-eighties in the summertime.

I was greeted with a warm welcome on arrival which really set the tone for my stay at Coral Reef Club. All the staff are not only helpful but friendly too which helps give the hotel a really intimate feel, despite it being one of the larger properties we work with.
I loved the set up of the resort; the rooms are well spread out around the gardens so theres no long corridors or towering blocks. Theres a definite colonial influence in the design of the rooms; theyre beautifully finished, generous in size, and my balcony was the perfect spot to watch the sunset with a rum punch!
The main pool area is fairly small, but never seemed to be over-crowded. Theres another pool tucked away towards the back of the resort that guests can use, but I joined the majority of guests down at the beach where there are serviced loungers and a good variety of water sports on offer.

Coral Reef Club has a lovely colonial plantation house feel to it; accommodation is in cottages and houses dotted around its 12 acres of beautiful grounds.
With it being a family run hotel you really feel part of the family, so much so it is often hard to get availability as it has such a devoted repeat clientele!
It can be quite traditional in its approach as there is a dress code in place and men shouldn't really wear shorts in the restaurant in the evenings and are expected to wear a jacket and tie at New Year.
The hotel provides a great base on the west coast for exploring and with its sister hotel The Sandpiper only next door you can decide where to dine on an evening.
The Spa is a pretty amazing place to relax in, it is all open air, so can be a little stifling in the warmer months, however, it is very tranquil and offers a huge range of treatments.

This is a beautiful hotel, owned and run by the O'Hara family which are very much the face of the hotel. The rooms are all dotted around the resort and designed and decorated using pastel colors.

The Coral Reef Club is one of our larger hotels in Barbados, but retains a warm and welcoming feel. Many of the staff have worked there for years, and the O'Hara family who own it, are very hands on in the day to day running. The rooms are all very spacious and although the grounds are large and spread out, it is really easy to get around the resort via the winding pathways. There are four buffet's each week, Bajan, BBQ, Curry and Oriental. The quality of the food is superb, but I know not everybody will like a buffet which is no problem. If you are on half board you can exchange dine at a number of other luxury hotels or restaurants.

Owned and run by the OHara family, who also own The Sandpiper hotel, the Coral Reef Club is very much a family affair and as such manages to retain a warm and intimate feel despite being one of the larger hotels on the West Coast.
Coral Reef Club is set in lovely lush gardens. All the accommodation is set in cottages dotted around the grounds, no room blocks here, so is very pretty. The style is Caribbean but not too Caribbean, bright colors are in moderation and tasteful, and I particularly liked the local Caribbean art work on the walls.
The service here is pretty good for a Caribbean island and the staff are friendly and welcoming too. There seems to be quite a hands on approach from the family who are visible to guests and really take an interest which is a nice touch.
The new spa is the star of the show here, modern, contemporary and stunning to be in. It feels wonderfully peaceful and indulgent, I really liked the couples treatment area with its own huge bath. A welcome addition to the hotel, the spa is already proving hugely popular.
If you don't want to be confined only to the hotel, there are some superb restaurants within very easy reach. Barbados is the place to go out and sample the local food and experience Bajan life and Coral Reef Club is a great base for this.
Coral Reef Club has a very loyal repeat clientele, many go back year after year, so sometimes its hard to find availability to stay here. However, its definitely worth it, most that stay once just keep coming back.
