Best time to Visit
Good time to visit
Average time to visit
The best game viewing is from May to the end of September. Summer (November to March) days can get quite warm (up to 28-32 degrees on average) but it is a dry heat. Summer rainfall, normally in the form of thunder storms are usually in the evening, however, the African climate is still always unpredictable. Fall (April to May) days can still be warm but the evenings cool down. Average day time temperature 22-28 degrees. Evenings 10-15 degrees. Winter (June to August) days are warm (temperatures in the mid-twenties) evenings and early mornings very cold with average early morning temperatures 5-12 degrees. It very rarely rains at this time when the bush is golden and dry. Spring (September, October) days start getting hotter, evenings and mornings could still be crisp but not as cold. A very slim chance of rain.

Description
Morukuru is a collection of exclusive-use properties in the malaria-free Madikwe Game Reserve. The Owner's House is one of the villas situated along the bank of the Marico River.
Morukuru Lodge is made up of the River House and the Owner’s House. The houses are fully staffed and guests have the use of a private 4 wheel drive vehicle and guide, making for a truly exclusive safari experience.
Owner's House is approximately 400 meters from River House, the two houses can be taken exclusively, or, for larger groups, as a whole. The Owner's House is the smaller of the two and has just two double en-suite bedrooms.
The central living area is adorned with plush soft furnishings, Madikwe stone, crafted by the local community, and wood and glass elements work together to create a pleasing synergy of contemporary African décor, style and ambiance. The living area boasts state-of-the-art digital entertainment and home office facilities, as well as an elegant dining area and formal lounge.
A wooden deck surrounds the villa and guests can recline on comfy sofas or on loungers by the pool, overlooking the river. Retreat for a siesta under the impressive Tamboti trees which provide welcome shade from the hot African sun.
In the evening, there is a range of dining options, including the opportunity to sit around a log fire in the lodge’s atmospheric boma. The lodge also organize enchanting bush meals: riverside picnics, dining amidst the savannah or breakfast on a nearby mountain top. No two meals are taken in the same location.
Established in 1991, malaria-free Madikwe Game Reserve is today one of South Africa’s top wildlife destinations offering the chance to see a variety of game, including Africa’s ‘big five’.
