With just 24 rooms, this boutique property is welcoming, peaceful and stylishly designed, with a network of bungalows creating an unobtrusive addition to the desert surrounds
The decor of the rooms and public spaces takes inspiration from the colors and tones of the environment but adds a contemporary edge that creates a modern, elegant take on desert-chic
Experiences at The Desert Grace focus on uncovering the desert landscape through dune drives, scorpion night walks, e-bike rides and self-guided walks
The world’s highest dunes are just a few miles away at Sossusvlei, part of the UNESCO World Heritage Listed Namib Sand Sea
If you're visiting Sossusvlei, the best thing to do is avoid the summer, which is extremely hot. Therefore, the best time to visit southern Namibia is in winter (May and September) but bear in mind that the desert regions can be bitterly cold at this time of year. The climate of the southern coast is hospitable from February to May, but quite cool and misty year-round, and particularly windy in August.
Just a few miles from Namibia’s famous Deadvlei at Sossusvlei, The Desert Grace is a stylishly refined boutique property with an eco-friendly edge and endless views of the rolling dunes and ever-changing patterns of the desert.
Situated within the Gondwana Namib Park, The Desert Grace combines a contemporary design with subtle nods to traditional Namibian crafts and desert style in its decorative additions. With just twenty Twin Rooms and four Family Rooms, the property is small, welcoming and an elegant spot from which to soak in the spectacular landscapes that surround it.
With air-conditioning for the warm days and heating for chillier nights, the rooms of The Desert Grace are welcoming and well-equipped. Ensuite bathrooms are sleek and contemporary, with marble vanities, metro tiles, showers and thoughtful touches. Tea and coffee making facilities, fridges and WiFi create a comfortable home-from-home, albeit one at the heart of the desert sands. Alongside twenty Twin Rooms, The Desert Grace offers four Family Rooms with space for four guests.
Serving breakfast, lunch and dinner, the restaurant is an elegant yet relaxed space where, once again, the views of the desert take center-stage. The wooden chairs, contemporary lines and flashes of pink echo the colors and simple lines of the sand dunes and mountains that lie outside, while the food is an innovative combination of international and local flavors.
With a strong environmental ethos, you can rest assured that your stay at The Desert Grace is working to preserve the beauty of the surrounding desert, with solar panels, a water-recycling plant and eco-friendly building practises.
Time spent at The Desert Grace revolves around the sand dunes and flora and fauna of the desert, with scorpion night walks, self-guided walks of 3, 5 or 7km and e-bike rides through the Namib Desert. A dune drive offers a chance to explore the desert landscape, passing ostriches and springbok before stopping atop a dune to enjoy a sundowner looking out over the endless expanse of bushman grasses, red-hued dunes and the purple mountains in the distance.
Set in the Gondwana Namib Park, The Desert Grace lies in the Solitaire region of Namibia and is 37 miles north of Sesriem.
