Average time to visit
The only time to avoid Kenya is during the long rainy season in April and May. November is considered the short rainy season, however, these are less predictable and are much lighter. The best time of year to visit the Maasai Mara is during the Great Wildebeest Migration which tends to pass through the Mara between mid July to late October.

Governors' Il Moran camp has recreated the atmosphere of the original hunting camps. Hidden under ancient trees, deep in the forest, are just 10 tents lining the winding banks of the Mara.
Smaller than its parent camp, Governors' Camp, Il Moran has been limited to just 10 tents lending the camp a smaller and more intimate feel. Each tent is in the classic canvas meru style. Beds are handmade from specially selected wood taken from ancient olive trees. Each tent has an en-suite bathroom, complete with Victorian large bathtubs. The tents have a wide veranda from which guests can take in the sights and sounds of the Mara. The verandahs are also designed to be comfortably large enough for guests to enjoy private dinners at their tent.
Meals are taken outside; breakfast on the banks above the Mara River, lunch under the cool shade of leafy evergreens and dinner under the stars by candlelight.
Elephant are regular visitors to Il Moran, often strolling between tents enjoying the cool shade on their way to or from the river. At night, guests will often hear the cough of a nearby leopard or the deep echoing calls of one of the Mara lion prides.
Ten large canvas tents are located, with privacy in mind, beneath the canopy of large shady trees along the Mara River.
All tents enjoy views of the river, where guests will often see crocodiles basking in the sun and pods of hippo jostling for space and keeping cool in the Mara water.
Super king size beds are crafted from ancient fallen olive trees and positioned to allow guests to catch the best views from their beds. All tents have en-suite facilities with large Victorian baths, harking to classic safaris of times past.
The large verandah's of each tent are the perfect place to enjoy the sights and sounds of one of Africa's premier game viewing locations.
