Average time to visit
East Africa offers superb game-viewing year-round, although we recommend avoiding travel in April and May which are the "long rains" when heavy rainfall occurs, roads and airstrips are often flooded and many of the lodges close. The main dry season runs from June until the end of October, and the "short rains" come in November, which are short-sharp bursts of rain every few days. December until March are often hotter and more humid months, with occasional rainfall but still a great time to travel.
