Best time to Visit
Good time to visit
Average time to visit
For a small country, Jordan has an extraordinary range of climates. The best time to visit climate-wise is in spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November), when the daytime temperatures aren't too extreme. April is probably the best month, when temperatures are warm and wildflowers are in bloom. March can be cold and rainy in the north but is balmy by the Gulf of Aqaba and the Dead Sea.

-
Days 1-3: Amman
Small in size but undeniably charming, Jordan offers the perfect getaway for families. Your journey begins in the capital, Amman, where you can orientate yourselves with an informative walking tour with your friendly guide, visiting locations such as the Roman Theatre and the Citadel, offering the chance to learn about the city’s heritage and customs.
Accommodation: The Four Seasons Hotel Amman (2 nights)
-
Days 3-5: Petra
You will then drive the 3.5 hours to Petra, which was made famous in ‘Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade’; an essential for pre-vacation viewing to get children into the spirit of adventure! Accompanied by your local guide, wind your way through the Siq, past the Treasury and into the main site, where the dramatic vistas, colorful caves and mysterious temples are sure to engage the whole family.
Accommodation: Movenpick Resort Petra (2 nights)
-
Days 5-6: Wadi Rum
You will then drive another hour and 45 minutes out to Wadi Rum, where you will journey by 4x4 into the desert, stopping off at sand dunes where children (and parents) can enjoy the wonderful sensation of dune running! After watching sunset in the desert, you will drive to your camp where your family will spend the night under the stars.
Accommodation: Sun City Camp (1 night)
-
Days 6-8: Dead Sea - Jordan Side
A final 3.5-hour drive takes you to the conclusion of your journey, finishing at the shores of the Dead Sea, the lowest point in the world and famous for its incredibly buoyant salty water. We recommend the Kempinski Ishtar here, a hotel which has a kid’s club, tennis courts and 9 swimming pools. It is the perfect end to an action packed and memorable week away.
Accommodation: Kempinski Hotel Ishtar Dead Sea (2 nights)
