Explore the wonders of Arabia with this balanced itinerary, covering highlights of Jordan and Oman from the rose-red city of Petra to the sparkling gold of Muscat's Grand Mosque. This is the Middle East at its finest.

1. Days 1-3: Amman

   Start your journey in the capital city of Jordan, Amman. Take in the city on foot with your own private guide, visiting sites such as the impressive Roman Theatre and ancient citadel as you soak up the atmosphere of the lively downtown area.

2. Days 3-5: Petra

   Next on your adventure is a visit to the unmissable jewel of Jordan's crown; Petra. Break up the 3.5-hour drive along the King's Highway by stopping off at various sites of interest along the way, such as Madaba, Mount Nebo and Shobak. Spend two nights in Petra, Jordan's most famous site. Head into the lost city early to avoid the crowds and wind your way through the Siq with your own private guide. Enjoy a coffee in front of the Treasury before having your breath taken away by the sheer scale and majesty of the main site.

3. Days 5-6: Wadi Rum

   From Petra it is only an hour and a half drive to Wadi Rum, an area made famous by Lawrence of Arabia. Embark on an exciting 4x4 drive across the sand, taking in the dramatic scenery and experiencing the vast open spaces. Spend a night at a luxurious camp in the desert, where you can enjoy traditional Bedouin cuisine whilst gazing up at a sky thick with stars.

4. Days 6-7: Dead Sea - Jordan Side

   Your final night in Jordan will be spent by the Dead Sea, just a 3.5-hour drive from the desert. Floating on the salty water is an experience not to be missed, and the mud from the banks, available for full-body masks, is believed to have healing properties.

5. Days 7-9: Muscat

   The next day fly to Muscat, Oman’s capital. A half day City Tour is a must-do when first visiting Muscat. Your private driver will take you to key sites including the opulent Grand Mosque and bustling fish market.

6. Days 9-11: Nizwa

   No trip to Oman is complete without spending time in the spectacular mountain region. Stay two nights amongst the beautiful scenery, and perhaps take the opportunity to visit the ancient city of Nizwa with its impressive fort. On Fridays there is a livestock market where you can watch locals use their best haggling skills. We recommend taking a guided walk through mountain villages to soak up the beautiful scenery, stopping for lunch en-route.

7. Days 11-13: Muscat

   Return to Muscat for the final nights of your trip unwinding and reflecting on your trip. Indulge in a spa treatment, sit by the pool and enjoy some delicious local food. We recommend taking time to go dolphin and whale watching in the Gulf of Oman where you will also be able to appreciate the views of the mountains from a different angle. There is also plenty to do in the city, such as golf, sailing and visiting the city's historical sites and museums.

8. Fly home from Muscat, Oman
