Japan has four seasons and is best visited in spring from March to May and autumn from late September to November. December to January can be cold with snow and the summer is hot and humid. The end of March and early April is a particularly good time to visit as this is the cherry blossom season as is October for the autumn colors.

Itinerary
Japan’s incredible cities are linked by the Shinkansen, the Bullet Train, traveling up to 200 miles per hour. Start with the cultural experience of Kyoto and then relax in peaceful beauty of the Hakone National Park before ending your trip in the dynamic city of Tokyo.

Days 1-4: Kyoto
Starting off the itinerary, launch straight into Japan's cultural center of Kyoto and venture into the Shinto and Buddhist shrines and temples. During your time in Kyoto, make sure to explore Gion with your guide, strolling through the small side streets in the hope of seeing a Maiko on her way to an evening performance. Discover Kyoto with a full day city tour to explore the highlights including Philosopher Walk, the iconic Heian Shrine as well as Nijo Castle, the seat of Japanese medieval power for many centuries.

Days 4-5: Hakone
After three nights in Kyoto, jump on the bullet train and head to Hakone National Park, a volcanic valley renowned for its hot springs and fantastic spa facilities. Hakone is a beautiful area of Japan and allows some time to relax and unwind surrounded by stunning scenery which changes with every season. Once you have had your fill of taking it easy in the Onsen (hot springs) there are plenty of places to visit including the Boiling Valley and Lake Ashi, giving another unique experience of Japan.

Days 5-7: Tokyo
Take the bullet train to the exciting city of Tokyo, a city that never sleeps and experience the bright lights of Shinjuku and pockets of old Japan such as Asakusa where hidden temples await exploration. Stay two nights and enjoy a visit to the Meiji Shrine and Asakusa district, where you can wander in the compounds of the ancient Sensoji temple. Experience Tokyo of the Edo Period in the interactive Edo Tokyo Museum.
Tokyo is such a mesmerising city, there is just so much to do and see here and for those that want to explore further you could take one day out to visit Kamakura or Nikko which are great options for a day trip and easily accessible from Tokyo.

A Day in Kyoto
Today, explore the gorgeous 'Silver Pavilion' and stroll along the Philosopher's Walk. Visit the Heian Shrine before taking a tour of Nijo Castle. End the day with some free time to explore Nishijin Textile Center or the Teramachi.
