The historic Sapporo Grand Hotel is spread across three buildings in central Sapporo, just a five-minute walk from Sapporo Station and linked to a number of subway stations via an underground walkway. The large public spaces and lobby are full of old-world charm with plush velvets, marble columns and dark woods, and walls are adorned with contemporary art, providing a stylish blend of classic and modern design. Guests can choose from a wide range of room categories and restaurants, and there are on-site shops as well as an art gallery.
 
There are three main types of room: Grand by Grand offering the most upscale contemporary rooms and suites, with access to the Executive Lounge for complimentary refreshments; Comfort Rooms which offer smaller, but comfortable and modern accommodation, some with Jacuzzi baths and Standard Rooms which are smaller and have traditional furnishings. While the rooms vary greatly in style and design, standard amenities include en-suite bathroom, air-conditioning, air purifier, Wi-Fi, flat-screen TV and mini-fridges.
 
Guests have a wide range of restaurants to choose from including the Northern Terrace Diner for Western dishes; Garden Dining Waraku for Japanese cuisine; Kokadu for Chinese cuisine and Hokkaido Dining Big Jug for grilled meats and fish. Bars include dark red sophistication at the Lounge Bar & Old Saloon 1934 for live jazz and cocktails; Bar Caravel for an Olde English vibe or the contemporary Mizar Lobby Lounge. There is also an ons-ite coffee shop and bakery. Access to the small gym is chargeable unless staying in a Grand by Grand room and there is a spa for relaxing treatments and massage. With many of the city’s main attractions within easy walking distance, the Grand will appeal to those looking for a hotel with an interesting historic past.
