Pacaya Volcano Hike with picnic & thermal baths

You will be met at your hotel by your private English-speaking driver for a morning transfer (1-hour, 20 minutes) to the foothills of the active Pacaya Volcano, which sits outside of the city of Antigua. Begin a fairly strenuous hike through wonderful pine forest, reaching a tricky section with volcanic ash terrain, before finally getting up close to the sulphur-smoking cone. On occasions you can even see small eruptions and lava flow, depending on the activity of the volcano at the time.

From the summit, enjoy great views to the northern volcanoes, the Pacific lowlands and all the way to El Salvador. After a short way, you will stop to enjoy a picnic lunch with views of the impressive volcanoto take in. Horse support is available if you are struggling with the terrain or the altitude. Back at the base of the volcano, the support vehicle will be waiting for your transfer back to Antigua, stopping at some relaxing thermal pools on the way to rest any weary limbs.
