Head away from Murchison Falls down a calm stretch of the Nile to the Lake Albert delta. A haven for birders, the Murchison Falls area is home to over 460 species of bird, many of which inhabit and visit the sprawling delta.
Departing early in the morning, a cruise to the Lake Albert delta is a calm, relaxing experience. Float down the papyrus-lined river, keeping an eye out for the many species that inhabit the area. Hippo and crocodile are a common sight here, and on arrival at the delta, where the Nile meets the lake, you will have the chance to spot many of its wonderful bird species. A fantastic way to spend a morning, this is also one of the best places in the country to spot the elusive, and much sought-after, shoebill stork.
