In November, as the season changes in Zambia, the many wild mango trees start to drop their bright orange fruits. These attract huge numbers of monkeys and birds, but also much larger wildlife!
Mfuwe Lodge is built around a towering wild mango tree, used by families of elephants for centuries as a delicious snack just before the December rains. Visit Mfuwe Lodge in November to see the spectacular sight of families of elephants, led by the matriarch Wonky Tusk, as they ascend the stairs into the reception area, and walk through to the mango tree where they can eat their fill. Babies, juveniles and enormous adults all join in the feast and it is an incredible sight!
