Best time to Visit
Good time to visit
Average time to visit
Qinghai’s continental plateau location forms a unique climate, with low temperatures, long winters and dry and windy conditions, with an average rainfall of just 300mm. The winter temperatures rarely reach above -7°C, often plummeting well into the -20s. Spring is cool but beautiful, as the plateaus burst into life once more. The summer months from June to September are the best time to visit Qinghai, with warm, dry days and alpine flowers blooming across the grasslands. Even during the summer months, evenings can still be cool so warm layers are advisable.
