Longmen & Shen'ao Ancient Towns

Located on the south bank of the Fuchun River, the Longmen Ancient Town is a first-class attraction known for its unique architectural complexes which dates back to the times of Ming and Qing dynasties. It is believed that over 90% of the villagers who reside in Longmen are descendants of the Sun Quan family of the Three Kingdoms, and as such, Longmen is often described as the hometown of the Three Kingdoms.
Less known but arguably more authentic is the Shen'ao Ancient Town which comprises of Xujing, Huanxi, Zhangpu and Qingyuan. The ancient villages are primarily characterized by its ubiquitous water system which independent yet interconnected, running for over 800 meters long and 4 meters deep under the ground. The are more than 100 ancient buildings spread around the pebble-paved streets, which preserve much of its original atmosphere and charm.
