Wuyuan
Often referred to as the most picturesque village in China, Wuyuan offers a taste of rural China with magnificent Hui-styled architecture and seasonal rapeseed flowers, red azaleas and green tea hills. It is also considered as the "hometown of books" as some of the most prominent officials and talents between the Song and Qing dynasties come from Wuyuan.
The best time to visit Wuyuan is spring, when the rapeseed comes into full bloom approximately March-early April around the ancient villages of Jiangling, Huangling and the more off-beat Qingyuan.
Similarly beautiful is the autumn season around October-late November, when maple leaves and ginkgo paint the fields and hillsides with fiery red splashes. Places such as Shicheng Mountain, Huangling and Zhang villages are especially beautiful during this period.
