The Dochula Pass is a high mountain pass that many cross when traveling from Thimpu to popular areas further east such as Punakha and Gangtey. At the top of this mountain pass are 108 memorial stupas that were constructed in memory of 108 Bhutanese soldiers who lost their lives when fighting Indian rebels in 2003. Dochula Pass is also known for being one of the most scenic mountain passes in the world with fantastic views over the Himalayas, making it a worthwhile stopping point between Thimpu and Punakha.
