Very active family vacations when I was young really drove my interest in travel. I loved exploring the new places we visited, trying as much of the local food as I could and meeting people from different cultures. Now I try and see as much of the world as I can whether thats getting close to Lion on safari, red snapper fishing in New Zealand and trying my hand at surfing in Sri Lanka.
Favourite places I've been
Bagan
Bay of Islands
Bazaruto and the south coast
Cape Town & the Western Cape
East Coast
Fiordland
Lake Malawi
Luangwa Valley
Makgadikgadi and the Kalahari
Mandalay
Okavango Delta and Moremi
Swedish Lapland
Tasmania
Val d`Isère
Virungas and northern Rwanda
Travel nuggets
When on safari try and spend a couple of nights in some 'back to basics' camps. You will feel very close to the wildlife and the thrill will be something you never forget.
Take to the lakes in a canoe in Sweden for an incredibly peaceful day.
Watch dawn creeping in over the temples of Bagan from a hot air balloon.
You could easily spend a day exploring the MONA in Tazmania. Ensure you have dinner at Faro to make the most of the impressive views!
Take bikes around the tea plantations in Sri Lanka to work up an appetite before some delicious curries for supper.
Visit the rain room in Jackalope Hotel after some wine tasting. Surrounded by rain (inside!) and you wont get wet!
Explore the wild Bruny Island where you can see penguins, tasmanian devils and wallabies before enjoying some fresh oysters with a whiskey pairing.
Dive in the Bazaruto Archipelago to search for the incredibly rare Dugong.
Hike in the Caucasus in Northern Georgia for some truly awe inspiring views; wildflower meadows, huge mountains, glaciers and beautiful Svaneti towns.
