Having grown up in Southern Africa I have a deep rooted love for the continent. It was not until I left, having lived there for fifteen years, that I realised how much I would miss my first home.
Africa is and will always be a place I associate with beauty, wildlife and culture. While living in South Africa, I was lucky enough to visit the wild coastline of KwaZulu-Natal, venture across to the vibrant city of Cape Town, enjoy the lemurs of Madagascar and explore the wild bush of Zimbabwe. One of these experiences alone would be enough to cement my desire to learn more, and return time and time again.
I have since, during my time at Scott Dunn, visited South Africa and Tanzania. South Africa is the perfect place for an introduction to Africa. For those that have never been, you can enjoy the gourmet delights, vibrant culture and many activities of Cape Town and the Winelands. Challenge yourself to climb Table Mountain or visit every wine estate on the Franschhoek Tram. The highlight for most is undoutedly the amazing safari experiences on offer in this rich country.
My highlight so far was gazing out over the Savannah bush in Tanzania, watching the hundreds of thousands of wildebeest and other game make their way north in the great migration. One of my groundhog days.
