In my 20’s, my life changed completely, by chance. I met a friend who told me he got paid to drive around North America and take people camping for a living. From that moment I knew that is what I wanted to do and less than a year later, I was leading adventure tours around the U.S.A., Canada, and Mexico. Every day was a new adventure. One day I’d be hiking in the Grand Canyon and the next I’d be cruising the Las Vegas Strip in a Hummer limo. I rode horses in the wild west, rafted class 4 rivers in the Rockies, jumped out of (perfectly good) airplanes, climbed mountains and ancient Mexican pyramids. All in a day’s work! During this time, I met hundreds of people, colleagues, and passengers alike, who were keen travelers with amazing tales to tell. Every story expanded my horizons, and many added a new country or activity to my ever-growing bucket list.
Since then, I haven’t looked back, traveling to five of the seven continents so far. I love getting off the tourist trail and immersing myself in cultures, meeting people and eating wonderful, sometimes weird, local delicacies. A few favorite experiences are zip lining and sleeping in tree houses in the jungles of Laos, snorkeling with Beluga whales in the Hudson Bay, spotting pink dolphins in the Rio Negro (Brazil), watching a jaguar casually walking near the Mayan ruins site of Calakmul, Mexico and diving in the 2 largest coral reefs in the world (Australia and the Caribbean).
No matter where I go or what I do, I am grateful to have seen so much of my own amazing country. It’s a privilege to be able to share my knowledge and experiences with others to help them create a dream vacation with memories that will last a lifetime.
