Since doing a community project in Ecuador at the age of 17, I have been fascinated by the different cultures in our world. Since then I have traveled 6 continents exploring the diverse sights, sounds and tastes that are on offer. The continents that have held my interest is Asia & Australasia, with their diverse landscapes, delicacies and people, there is always something new to discover.
In the past 3 years working for Scott Dunn I have had the opportunity to explore both continents in more depth and in a new way. The opportunity to go back to countries I already love such as Indonesia and Australia combined with discovering new parts of Asia such as Sri Lanka and Japan have been incredible and really kept my passion for travel alive.
Having access to private driver/guides and area specialists give a completely different feel and depth to your experience of the places you are visiting. Not only do they add a breadth of knowledge hard to find elsewhere but you get to connect to and experience the local culture and customs that would be hard to find on your own.
I have had some amazing once in a life time experiences with Scott Dunn from visiting the Komodo Dragons in Indonesia to be guided through an 800 year old Sake brewery in Japan by an 80 year 8th generation owner to soring over the southern Alps in New Zealand by Helicopter. I truly cannot wait to see what is next.
Favourite places I've been
Getting up early is the perfect way to beat the crowds and catch a beautiful sunrise- not to be missed at Angkor Wat and Borobudur.
I would always advise getting on that extra flight or boat to explore the corners that are less traveled. Komodo National Park in Indonesia may be a bit harder to get to but it's worth the effort.
Remember to pencil in some down time, we all want to see and do everything but it is a vacation, so make sure you find some time to relax and enjoy.
When in Australia- rent a car! Sure, it's quicker to fly but you'll miss the wonders of the outback including endless landscapes and the clearest night skies.
Remember to check out what's going on locally, from festivals to comedy events, I experienced Sydney Opera House whilst watching my favorite comedian!
Take the plunge and stay in a traditional ryokan in Japan. Relax for the evening in an Onsen and then indulge in a traditional Keiseki dinner.
When in New Zealand explore the skies, helicopters are a staple here so are great value and can add a real once in a lifetime moment to your trip.
